Revelations
Faith recalls the day she knew that she couldn't live without her partner.
(Disclaimer) I own nothing!
Faith sat in the locker room after work, waiting for Bosco to finish getting ready. She didn't want him to know she was waiting for him, but she figured he knew. They'd walked out of work together every night for the past 10 years they'd been partners. Today had sucked...and not just figuratively. Today literally sucked...they'd lost a man they could never begin to replace, and they'd gained absolutely nothing. Today had also sucked the morale out of all of them... Faith remembered getting the call. Shots fired at EMS at 126 Lexington... When they'd gotten there, Doc and Carlos were already working on Bobby, placing pressure dressings over his sucking chest wounds and placing IV's in his arm while Kim sat beside him and sobbed. Pauly had been long gone...She remembered waiting along with the rest of the 55 in the hospital waiting room, listening to doctors mumble back and forth...they never got straight answers, just medical mumbo jumbo that some of the paramedics didn't even comprehend. Faith remembered sitting next to Bosco and just staring at her feet, silently praying that one of the best paramedics...one of the best guys she knew made it off the operating table alive. She'd always loved Bobby and the light he brought into a room. She remembered her silent tears that fell when Kim collapsed on the floor, learning that the 3rd time his heart stopped, they were unable to get him back and that Kim would never see the man she'd ridden with for the past 5 years again. She remembered wanting to go and wrap her arms around her own partner, telling him how much he really meant to her and how much she needed him. A voice snaps her back into reality and she sees Bosco standing over her, his sad eyes piercing her own. She knew he wasn't that close with Bobby, but they'd never crossed each other. There was the one night, after the explosion with the four teenagers that Bobby had found Bosco sitting on the side of the road where it happened and he had tried to help Bosco. That was one of the last nights that they were all together.
"Wanna ride home?" his voice slices through the silence, but his eyes never left hers.
She nodded and closed her locker door. Grabbing her purse, she followed Bosco out of the prescient. There were candles and flowers outside the fire station next door and Kim sat, holding a candle along with some of the other 55 including Doc, Carlos, DK, Billy, Jimmy, Alex Taylor, Sully and Ty. Bosco and Faith said nothing, only walked over and they each picked up a candle from the spot where they burned on the ground. All the woman were crying silent tears and the men looked down at the ground, trying not to cry. Faith glanced over at her partner and came to a definite revelation. She couldn't live without him and didn't want to imagine trying.
