disclaimer-i don't own Code Lyoko.
Yumi moved from shadow to shadow until she reached the school gate. Eying it warily, she took a deep
breath and leapt, scrabbling over it to land gracefully on the opposite side.
The Japanese girl gazed around, waiting. To one side the dorms loomed up, to the other the cafeteria
could be seen. All around her the school wove, the enormous building taking up the rest of the campus.
"Good of you to come," a voice cooed out of the darkness. Yumi watched as Sissy appeared in a patch
of moonlight that made her pale skin glow. "I thought you would be too chicken to show."
Ignoring the last comment Yumi placed a hand on her hip. "What's this about," she asked, drawing
a giggle from the principle's daughter. "Don't play games with me."
"Oh, but this is anything but a game. This is very serious." Sissy nodded as if to confirm her own
words. "We can't both be in love with the same boy forever."
"Ulrick," Yumi breathed, dropping her annoyed pose.
"Exactly." Yumi found herself thinking that Sissy's voice was even more annoying at night. "One of
us has to back down."
"Yeah, Sissy, why don't you?" Yumi smirked.
"Why?" Sissy's voice rose several octaves. "Because I'm pretty and popular and he can do way better
than you!"
"So? I'm no beauty queen, but I'm not ugly either. And who cares about popularity anyway? Ulrick
doesn't seem to."
"You're not the only one who likes him you know!" Sissy's voice had gone from defensive to pleading.
"What gives you the right to be so close to him?"
"I'm his friend, Sissy. You love him for his looks. I love him for who he is. That's why he's closer
to me."
The pink-clothed girl collasped to her knees with a sob. "It's not fair!"
Yumi took her hands, heaving her up. "No one said it would be. Go back to your room, Sissy."
Much to Yumi's shock, the younger girl nodded and turned to leave.
"It's not over," she said softly.
"Never said it was," Yumi responded with a small smile aimed at Sissy's back. "I never said it was."
