Title: Two Imaginary Boys

Author: greatunironic

Rating: PG-13 for swearage

Disclaimer: Neither Sam nor Malcolm is mine.

Feedback: Oh yeah, baby.

Summary: Bitchy words, minor slashiness, and a crossover. Malcolm Reed and Sam Beckett, together and not.

Etc.: Archer isn't the only one to get displaced; what if one of them gets left behind? A little screwing around with the end of season three.

---------------

Malcolm Reed is a wandering savoir with a guy who says he's a time- traveling quantum physicist. They spend their time putting other people's lives back together but can't seem to fix their own.

Despite fitting in the best they can in all these times and places, Sam Beckett and the wandering savoir can't seem to feel comfortable in this world. One is from the future, one is from the past, and they're stuck here in this time limbo. Can't go back all the way, can't go forward all the way. Stuck, stuck, stuck.

Malcolm Reed and Sam Beckett don't fit in with time because they're just so damn nice. They rescue kittens from trees and help little old ladies cross the street. Too damn nice for their own good.

Malcolm Reed is the stereotypical British guy, oh dear ol' mum, and Sam Beckett couldn't be more American, take me out to the ball game.

The wandering savoir is an alcoholic and the time-traveler can only watch as he destroys himself. They fix everyone else but not each other.

Sam Beckett and Malcolm Reed together hold nine PhDs and have the collective IQ of four hundred and eighty-three. Still stuck, stuck, stuck.

Sam Beckett wonders what life would be like if Malcolm Reed, British guy fish and chips wandering savoir, gets back to his own time. Lonely all alone.

Malcolm Reed wonders what life would be like if Sam Beckett, American stereotype peanuts and hot dogs and Cracker Jack quantum physicist, gets back to his own time. All alone lonely.

The wandering savoir and the time-traveling quantum physicist wonder what life would be like together. Lonely all alone together.

Sam Beckett isn't Malcolm Reed.

Malcolm Reed isn't Sam Beckett.

Maybe that's why they can fix everyone else but not each other.
