A/N:: Just to answer one of the reviewer's questions that I recieved, Kyu is not Rei. If it was, Rei would need to have cat ears and a tail, his hair would be shorter, and his hair would be silver. ::sighs:: Okay, me got that off my chest, hope you like the next chapter.
"Through Eyes of Scarlet and Gold"
A voice began to fill the slate haired boy's ears, making his eye slightly twitch. It felt like everytime that voice said his name, his skull slowly began to split. A warmth was laid on his shoulder, gently shaking his freezing body. Why was he so cold? It felt like he had been buried in a mountain of snow, and he had no energy to dig himself out of it. The voice called out his name one more time, and he finally had the strength to open his eyes, and see what was going on. He was lying on the ground, and then something velvet red caught his eyes. He looked down at the ground to see blood covering the ground below him, but it had sunk into the snow that was under him. He tried to adjust his blurry vision, but everything stayed in the mess of color that he wasn't used to. Most of his body was numb, probably to keep him from feeling the pain that he would feel, since the blood was coming from him.
A glint of black and silver caught his blur of color, and the same warmth was laid on his ice cold face. His vision began to fade, but then got clearer, as a firmiliar face came into view. The firmiliar silver haired gold eyed boy was kneeling down next to him, his eyes looking filled with worry and concern. Kai felt himself weakily blink, looking at the only thing that wasn't blurred. Kyu's face. The look of pity stayed on his face, as he bent down, laying a hand on the scarlet eyed boy's cheek, looking deeply into into his eyes with his gold. The older boy's lips were somehow slightly parted, allowing him to take short breaths that came in short rasps. The half neko leaned closer, and before he knew it, had Kai's lips trapped in a kiss. The Russian couldn't fight back, or respond, so he was forced to lie there, his eyes slightly widened.
The loud sound of the door being slammed open, making the younger boy rip his lips away, turning to see a identical blur of black and silver, but with a tint of reddish black to it. The scarlet eyed boy watched with a look with no emotion as the other blur fast walked over to the half neko, and grabbed the collar of his favorite japanese top, and with little effort, tossed him to the other side of the snow covered void, seeming to knock the young cat out. The blur of silver and black and red made it's way over to Kai, staring down at him. Before anything else could happen, a sharp pain ran through the slate haired boy's side, throwing him into the snow a few feet away, making more of the snow start to be stained with more of his blood. A hand began to lace it's fingers around the cloth of the older boy's shirt, pulling him up to look at the blurred face, but suddenly, it wasn't blurred anymore.
The pair of scarlet eyes were faced to face with a pair of blackish red eyes and silver hair that was a bit darker that Kyu's, and two tan scars deep in his pale skin. He looked exactly like Kyu, but he couldn't be, he had just tossed the neko away a few minutes ago. A evil smirk that could overpower Volitare and Boris' appeared on the look-a-like's face, seeing the puzzled, yet dead look in the slate haired boy's eyes, as he held him close to his face. With a harsh laugh, he released the boy from his grasp, and walked over to the place where he had thrown the young cat, and looked over at Kai, while his fingers were lightly laid on the koneko's face. Kai forgot about his fading strength, and lifted himself to his feet with all his effort, his back leaning by a tree that he had probably stopped against when the other neko had kicked him.
"Why are you bothering to get up? The way your going with that, your going to die, Kai..." A silky harder version of Kyu's voice hissed, letting his fingers stroke the tanned cheek of the innocent boy.
"Who....are you?" The Russian boy managed to say, "What...are you doing...to him?"
"What am I doing to him?" The two black red orbs glanced down for a second, then looked back up, "Nothing, why would I want to hurt myself, Kai? It'd be pointless."
The two blood red orbs widened greatly at his words. What was he talking about when he said 'why would I hurt myself'? Was the boy in front of him somehow a part of the silver haired boy lying there? There was no way that could be true, Kyu wasn't cruel or hard to anyone, including the slate haired boy. The golden eyes were suddenly opened, but they seemed like a doll's... lifeless. The dark neko looked at the golden orbs, then laid him on the ground, looking back at Kai. The gray blue bangs seemed to cover the red eyes of the older boy, as continued to look at the reddish black eyes. Another cruel smirk appeared on the boy's face.
"Let me introduce myself, I'm Dark, the darker side of the keneko you now know as Kyu. I'm here to kill you."
Kai's eyes widened, "What...?! You can't be a part of him, he's not evil."
The boy came up close to the slate haired boy, glaring into his eyes, "What do you really know about him? Do you think his life is so simple just because he's cute and innocent? No, not by a long shot! He holds me back, while trying to put up with the pain you give him everyday. You tear his heart apart by keeping your feelings, even your dreams from him, and for that, I can't allow you to live, Kai."
That's when the red eyed boy's energy faded completely, and he was on the ground, with everything around him blurring into a big mess of black. He managed to look across the room at the small form of the silver haired boy, who's doll like gold eyes continued to stay open, not blinking, or showing any visible emotion. He felt the fimiliar kick in the waist and side start to happen, as he looked up at the fading Dark, as he was slowly putting him into unconsiousness. Due to the loss of blood, and energy, the world around Kai finally faded, leaving him in a dark sea of nothing. A bright flash of light appeared in front of him, as if ready to lead him somewhere, but as he began to walk toward it, he heard a voice screaming his name, yelling for him to wake up. He was just about to turn when the sting of something hitting his cheek forced his eyes open.
The sting wasn't that intense, but he let his hand lay over it, as he felt his vision clear up to see where he was. He was back in his room, as he felt the warmth of the heater blowing into the room, onto his slightly shivering body. He turned his head, only to see the glint of Kyu's silver hair, and the two golden orbs looking at him with worry. Kai looked at him, then suddenly saw Dark flash in front of the koneko, causing him to lay his head onto his knees, his hands lacing into his short midnight blue hair. The cat watched with concern at the older boy's reaction at seeing him, and laid his hands on the boy's shoulder, gently rubbing them to give him some comfort. The heat finally began to lift the chill that had covered the slate haired boy's body, and took his hands out of his hair as the feeling in them returned. As he began to lift the velvet blankets off of him, he felt the hands on his shoulders make their way around his neck, making him stay in place.
"Kai, what happened? You were screaming about blood, and me in your sleep. Did you have the same nightmare again...?" The soft voice asked.
Hearing it only made the hard voice of Dark echo in Kai's mind, as he tried to get himself out of this, "No...it wasn't the same nightmare...but you don't have to worry about it..."
"But, Kai... this is the second time in the week that I've started to live here that you've had a nightmare making you scream in your sleep." Kyu laid his hands on Kai's. "Please tell me what happened, I'll understand."
"I can't..." Kai slipped his hands away, and finally lifted himself off the bed, "There's no point in you getting involved with what happens in my dreams, Kyu..."
"But why not? I care greatly about you, Kai, and I don't want to see you get hurt...you seemed so broken when you were crying last night, what is it about this dream that leaves you like you were on the first night I was here?"
"You seem to always give pity to me everytime I get a nightmare that probably doesn't mean anything," He tried to escape out of the bedroom, but the neko followed him out of the room as he did, "I don't need anyone pitying me, I didn't before, and I'm not weak enough to start now..."
"But, Kai..." A soft whimper escaped his mouth.
"No buts, Kyu..." Kai thought that would finish it, "Stop worrying so much about me...it's alright if you do sometimes, but don't do it every second of the day..."
"But if I don't worry about what happens to you, Kai, who will? Your friends, the Bladebreakers are back in their hometowns, and your grandfather is probably up to no good like you always say...so why can't I worry about you?"
Kai turned to face the koneko, "You can, just stop doing it constantly...it...it makes me feel...it makes me feel bad when I have something that I don't want to show, and you are on me to say it."
"But Kai...you know I don't like to see you hurting yourself...everytime you do, it slowly tears me up inside..."
Kai's eyes widened, 'It's...just like Dark said...' He suddenly faced the ground, "Stop..." He said barely over a whisper.
"Kai, it hurts me to see you like this! Please stop trying to be like your grandfather wants you to be, and just tell me...!"
"STOP IT!!" Kai screamed.
Before either one of them could figure out what was going on, the hand of the slate haired boy flew across the younger boy's face, harder than the day he had first hit him. The silver haired boy fell to the ground, whimpering coming out of his throat. The Russian finally grasped the situation, and what he had just done, and felt his red eyes widen is shock and shame. He had just slapped Kyu, and not only that, he had done it hard enough to knock him to the ground. Before he could get his body to move, and go check on the boy, the half neko lifted himself to the ground, clutching his burning cheek with his hand. He looked over at Kai, his golden eyes filling to the brink with fresh tears, just as there was a boom of thunder coming from outside. The dark clouds outside the window began to release rain as cold as ice onto the streets of Russia, as it poured onto the window of the room where the two were standing, facing each other. The lock was broken, as the cat closed his eyes, the silver glints falling to the carpeted floor, as he raced out the door of the apartment, and into the raining streets.
The slate haired boy simply stood there for a minumum of five seconds, before his body allowed him to move again, and he raced for the door, making the wind close it on his way out. He didn't even bother to grab a jacket, as he stepped into the raining streets, and began to search for the boy. The drops of water began to drip off his bangs, as he searched the streets, hoping to find the boy before the cold rain caused the both of them to catch colds.
After a moment of letting his feet walk on their own, he found himself back at the alley where he had first found Kyu covered in snow as a small kitten. He guessed that he might even be in there. He sighed, taking his chances, and began to approach the darkened alley. The Russian looked into the dark alleyway, his entire body soaked with the ice cold rain that was pouring from the sky. He fixed his scarlet eyes on the small tailed figure curled up in the corner of the alley, rubbing the cheek where the slate haired boy's hand had slapped him. Kai began to make his way over, but a hiss came out of the boy.
"Leave me alone..."
Kai's eyes softened, "But it's freezing out here...you shouldn't be out here..."
Kyu glared as Kai came closer, "I'm not going back...."
"But..."
The slate haired boy slowly began to make his way over to the younger boy, reaching his hands out to lay them on his shoulder. He didn't know if he could leave without the neko with him. He was completely alone and empty inside before he met the half neko, and he didn't think he was ready to go back to it now that he had him. He didn't want to have the boy gone from his life, since he was the first person who cared about him for real. As Kai's hands laid on the smaller shoulders, he felt a sudden shiver go down the boy's back, causing him to push the older boy away from him, making him back up in surprise. Kyu looked at him, his tail flicking with sadness and hurt, and his claws began to bear more than usual.
"Just go home...I've been enough of a burden on you already..."
"...But...where else can you go, Kyu? You said yourself that you were thrown out of all the other people's houses that you were taken into, so where else is there besides where I live...?"
"Kai..." The neko whispered, then made his way right by Kai's face, "Give one very good reason why I should!"
Kai was stunned, "...I...I..."
"Tell me, Kai!" Golden eyes bore into the scarlet.
"Because I love you!!" The words blurted out of his mouth, making him cover it in shock.
After those words escaped Kai's mouth, a very long and akward silence filled the streets. The honking of the horns on cars, and the whistle of the wind and rain kept the boy's silence from becoming too maladriot. Another boom of thunder and a flash of lighting ran through the ice pouring rain sky, as the neko continued to stare into the scarlet eyes in front of him. Had he heard right? Did...Kai just say that he loved him? The soft golden orbs were brimming with fresh silver tears that seemed to almost blend with the ice cold rain raining down around them.
"...Say that again?"
Kai felt his voice become ragged, but he managed to regain his composure, and replied softly, "...I love you, Kyu."
The soft golden orbs widened more if that was even possible, "Kai..."
The younger boy found himself frozen in his own voice, and he turned, looking at the wall. To his own and Kai's surprise, a small smile began to crack the upset estate that he was in before. The fangs upon his lips began to give him a cheshire calm grin of satisfaction, as he looked back up at the slate haired boy in front of him.
"Kai...I love you too."
Kai felt his body take a step backwards, as the boy had spoken those words. It was like...those were the best words and news that he had ever recieved in his life, which it probably was in his case. His voice was suddenly lost in his throat, not letting him talk. His mouth opened to say something, but not one word came from his mind for him. Kyu gave a small shake of his head, and lifted his hand, gently placing his finger on the slate haired boy's lips, smiling tenderly and sweetly.
"Let's not mix any more words, Kai."
Before the scarlet eyed boy could react to what he had just heard, he felt the neko place his gentle lips onto his own in a soft and tender kiss. He felt his eyes widen, remembering the kiss he had recieved from Kyu in his dream, but after a while, it seemed to fade. He felt the weight of the depression he had lift quickly from his shoulders, as he pressed against Kyu's lips in a silent response. Not even the rain or wind around them could even chill or seperate the two. It seemed their two hearts had become and beated as one.
