The Other Child
~Chapter six~

It amazes me on the fact of how easily found you are when you really want to be hidden. Take this for example. It had been a week since I left. I had found a small apartment a few cities away and was settling in. I had gone out to get some food and when I returned there was Yoru sitting on my couch eating an apple. Kurama walked out of my kitchen with a teapot and three empty cups.
"What the hell?" I inquired.
"Hiei. Settle." said Kurama as he poured the tea. "We just wanted to come see you."
"Oh." I said.
"Yeah," said Yoru. "What happened anyways? Why did you leave?"
"I heard some things," I said. Yoru looked at me curiously, Kurama gave a similar look but with a teacup between his lips.
"Boku doesn't love me," I said.
"Dammit!" Yoru stood and threw her apple out the window. "She's my sister and I love her to death but sometimes..."
"Yoru! It's over," I said. "Maybe she really does just love Yusuke."
"Tell us exactly what was said," demanded Kurama. I did.
"I saw her before we left yesterday," said Yoru. "I knew something was bothering her. When I told her you were gone her face kinda fell. She's been moping for days. She's really torn Hiei."
"Fine with me," I said sitting down and picking up a cup of tea.
"I wish you could remember what happened that night," muttered Kurama.
"Maybe he doesn't have to," said Yoru. "Hiei could you use your powers to give the memories to one of us?"
"I dunno. I could try. I don't really want to." I said.
"Well if we want any good to happen I think you should try," she said. "I volunteer myself to be the receiver of memory."
She sat down in front of me and pulled her hair up into a high ponytail. I laughed a little at her still tan skin then placed my hands on her shoulders and started to transmit the memories.
I don't know how long it took but finally Yoru stood and looked at me. Her hands were shaking and she shivered a bit. Kurama went over to her and gave her a cup of tea helping her to steady her hands.
"Well that explains some things," she said.
"Like what?" I asked trying not to sound too hopeful.
"Well remember when you and Boku dated? Well it seems that though you pissed her off pretty badly she still really loves you. But she wanted to forget or something and she's getting married to Yusuke as some sort of reassure to herself."
"But that doesn't explain the kid." commented Kurama.
"I think we already kinda had that figured out but now it's certain. One drunk Hiei and my lovesick sister. Perfect timing no?"
Kurama shook his head and sat back down. I didn't say anything. She loved me and not Yusuke. That was all I needed to know.
"You do know the wedding's tomorrow?" said Kurama after a while. I nodded still silent.
Yoru rested her hand on my shoulder for a moment before taking Kurama's hand and gliding out the window.
I watched them fly for a moment then stood and stretched. I knew what I had to do.

I stood alone watching the ceremony from the balcony. Boku kept looking sideways at the empty "Reserved for Hiei Jaganshi" chair.
It was a nice ceremony. Everyone was there. I recognized the kimono Julia wore. Yukina had made it. Yoru's eyes kept darting around finally settling on the balcony she smiled and softly nudged Kurama. His gaze followed hers and he also smiled.
After that the ceremony kind of dragged on after that. Finally the moment came.
"Speak now of forever hold your peace," the Priest said.
"I object."
