~Chapter seven~

"I object," I spoke only to Boku through telepathy. Her eyes went wide and she looked up into the balcony. I moved forward out of the shadows. She drew in a quick shaky breath. She looked at Yusuke then at Yoru then at Kurama then at me again. Then she grabbed Yusuke's hand and pulled him back down the aisle and out of the room. Yoru and Kurama quickly followed. We all met on the landing of the stairs.
"What's going on?" asked Yusuke. Boku looked at the ground.
"Yusuke, I'm sorry I can't keep lying to myself," said Boku. "I love Hiei. Always have always will."
"So that's what you meant when you said you couldn't give me all of your heart. And the child, its Hiei's isn't it?"
Boku nodded, still not keeping eye contact with Yusuke. I saw Yoru reach out and grab Kurama's hand. I leaned against the wall trying not to draw attention to myself.
"So then I guess this is goodbye," Yusuke turned and left. Yoru and Kurama quietly dispersed. A door opened somewhere. The people at the wedding would be wondering what happened. But I was alone with Boku and that was all that mattered.
"I'm going to feel bad about that forever," she said. "But I would feel worse if I didn't do this."
"Bo?"
She took my hands.
"I love you Hiei,"
"I know."
Then we kissed.

"Where's Yusuke?" asked Boku as we descended the stairs.
"We don't know," said Yoru. Kurama went looking for him.
"I hope that he'll forgive me," she murmured. Yusuke's mom walked up.
"Ma'am," said Bo. "I fear that I am unable to marry your son."
"I had a feeling when I saw you all looking up at the balcony. At least you had the grace not to leave him at the alter. You did it on the stairs just outside. You're a good kid Bo. I'm glad you followed your heart."
"Th-thank you," Boku managed, obviously shocked at the positive reaction.
Other people started to file out the doors.
"Maybe you two should go hide someplace," said Yoru. "I'll take care of all these people."
"Thanks," said Boku. "For everything Yoru. I'm glad you were here." Yoru shrugged.
"Name your first born child after me and I will forgive you!" Yoru announced.
"Shut up!" laughed Boku. Then the two of us hurried outside avoiding the throng of people.
It was lightly snowing as we walked. We circled around back of the building and into the woods. Boku smiled to herself and looked at the ground as she walked.
"I hope the snow doesn't ruin the kimono," she said turning her head and looking down her back.
"Don't dwell on it," I said, we kept walking. "Not like a ruined kimono would ruin your personal appearance anyways." She laughed.
"Hiei," she said after a while. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before this. Maybe it would've made things easier."
"Everything's going to be fine now," I concluded. "As long as I've got you."
"What about this one?" she put her hands on her stomach.
"And that one." I added. "The three of us."
"Two of us depending how long we con my sister and her husband into babysitting."
We both laughed.
"The three of us," I repeated.
"Boy or girl?" she asked, "Winner gets fifty dollars."
"Girl and I wanna name it," I said. She scowled.
"Fine," she finally said. "But only if I agree."
"Whatever," I shrugged it off.
"What do you think everything's going to be like now?" she asked after a while.
"What do you mean?"
"Life I guess. Will it be like when we dated before?"
"Does it matter?" I asked turning around and slipping an arm around her waist. "Or can we just start over and hope for the best?"
"Why hope?" she said. She smiled and kissed me running her hands through my hair.
"How does that do that?" she asked.
"Do what?"
"Stick up?"
"Shut up," I said and kissed her again. She shivered as the wind rippled through the trees.
"Let's go home," I said.
