THE FINAL ACT OF Secession
It would be the last straw. She had slowly felt like she was losing
herself and she'd had it. It was all the lies. The lies playing on
top of themselves, the doors closed and shut to her. It was part of the game
she knew, she knew coming in, but she still didn't like it. Everything had
started out with good intentions, which she soon realized everyone mush have
start out with, she hoped, at first. It was an act of secession, leaving Toby
in her office, Leo calling her name as she left the building and finally
throwing herself into her car as Josh watched from the side.
She scrambled for her cell phone after just driving and driving with no real direction not seeming surprised when she called information for his address.
She sat in her car for hours as the rain came down and he found her, coming along the side of her window, surprising her and taking her eyes. She rolled down her window and they looked at each other with longing and want and understanding.
Or he wouldn't find her in the car, she would have the
courage to walk up to his apartment and knock on the door. He would answer just
walking from his jet-lagged stupor,
running his hand over his bearded face unsure if he was dreaming or awake. He
would soon have his answer as he found his lips on hers and she felt his beard
run over and through her. He of course would have no idea what was on her mind,
what she was running from and therefore what he represented. He would just kiss
her and stroke her hair, hold her until she fell asleep in his arms and feel
the supple softness of her milky skin against his.
That's how it would happen she thought awaking from a daydream, well more like
day bleep for it seemed to pass for a flicker at a time. She found herself
zoning out from the real world every so often throughout her day. She wouldn't
know it was coming or if it would last long. Her eyes would begin to loose
focus and veer off for a moment.
The sounds and colors of the West Wing slowly came back to her as she exited the tunnel of her mind into conscious thoughts and sights. She took a breath shaking it off and brought her highlighter back to her work, but stopped for a moment as she took sight of Gail's bowl. She only let it happen for a moment as she forced herself back into her article and tried not to think of him for at least another day.
