Technically Pansy's mother could have chosen to take her mothers name if her parents were divorced. Or her mother could've just kept her maiden name. That's what my mother did. It doesn't always work the way you described it with the father and the naming...if that makes any sense.

James was in the HEAD common room. In the very beginning I said there was a head common room and Gryffindor common room. Dylan was in the Gryffindor common room, James was in the head common room.

It says that Lily left Dylan. It never says Lily left her room. 'So with one last glance made up her mind and soon left for the head girl room; she would have to give Dylan time to think it over.'

And I skip around so much because I want the readers to know everyone's feelings. If I didn't some characters would be neglected. I don't want full chapters on certain people and their troubles, I want to mix and mingle them. So I'm sorry if there confusing but I clearly put the stars marking a change from point of view. And it's written in 3rd person all knowing.

Chapter 17

The air, cold and crisp, whipped Lily's hair around as she made her way down to the stadium with Remus. She had many a thought on her mind, and none were petty problems. No far from that they were, for her mind entertained complicated events that seemed to have no meaning in clear view. Instead the answers were hidden by a mass of questions. Why in the world would Claire not get up? It couldn't be that she was just tired; she practically lived for Quidditch. And it couldn't be about Sirius, because Claire never spoke of him anymore; she never even acknowledged his presence. No, it had to be more. Could it be Jade? Was Claire remembering her dead sister yet again? Jade was a possibility but Lily had a feeling, just an inkling, that there was something more to it. But whatever it was would have to wait, for Lily's head was throbbing.

Beside her Remus walked silently immersed in sadness. And so Lily's head continued to throb but her thoughts moved on leaving Claire behind in a tangled web; only to find Remus caged. She could not set him free, for that she would have to undo the bite that had caused him to be a werewolf, which was, of course Lily thought logically, impossible. And she could not be Dylan and give him an answer. And then once again she felt the rage return with the single name, Dylan. She made Lily so angry. What was she possibly thinking? How could she leave him to suffocate in self hatred? She hadn't even mentioned it to Remus; she had noticed that they had eaten in silence that morning. How could she not notice? It hung itself upon the air, the very oxygen they breathed. One could feel it the second she sat down, its cool invisible threads hanging in the open for anyone to notice.

But then again Lily thought, maybe Dylan was just waiting for Remus to tell her. Maybe to Dylan it was an issue trust. Because Remus did not know that Dylan had overheard their conversation. So Lily looked over at him and asked, "Have you told her yet?"

"No," Remus replied. "I didn't want her to know before the game I thought it might distract her."

Lily snorted rather loudly, and then quickly covered it up with a sneeze.

"Bless you," Remus said.

"Oh thanks," Lily replied. She could not let him know that Dylan had overheard. She could not interfere. Lily had to let Remus make his choices.

After minutes of silence they came upon the stadium. It was shinning in the early morning rays of the golden sun. The tall beams that held rows and rows of wooden seats rose high into the azure sky that was cloudless. All about her students filled in nosily and as she approached them the wind died down. For it could no longer swirl her hair about when the students blocked its path. The scene was all to familiar for Lily, she had seen it over and over for seven years, the hustle and bustle of the first years trying to find good seats, the excitement of the fifth years who were free from a day of studying, and the laughter of the third years who were running about with their friends.

"Shall we go to the top then?" Remus asked as they entered and found themselves pushed along upwards.

"It seems that we don't have a choice," Lily shouted over a couple second years who were screaming across the stadium at their friends.

"I wish they would shut up," Remus said glancing over at them.

"Yea, but we were like that once, or at least our friends were," Lily replied.

"Ah the good old days," he said with a laugh running his hand through his sandy blonde hair.

Lily and Remus made their way up to the very top. They pushed against the mass of students until they found themselves seated upon the wooden benches overlooking the field. Lily sat on the hard cold surface and began to let her eyes wander. She looked down upon the rows and rows of children and an image of the ocean conjured up in her mind, a sea of red and gold, of green silver. They created waves which moved back and forth in the morning wind, all cheering and roaring as the ocean does on a stormy day.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, WELCOME TO THE GRYFFINDOR VERSES SYLTHERIN GAME!" shouted a boy over the crowd, his magically louder voice rung throughout the stadium bring a hushed quiet. It was Daniel Smith, a pureblood Ravenclaw with curly brown hair. "AND NOW THE LINE UP OF SYLTHERIN...INTRODUCING...BLAISE, FLINT, MCDONALD, GAMESON, PARKINSON, MANNING, AND..............TAYLOR! Cheers erupted from the silver and green crowd, while grumbling and boos sounded loud and clear in the red and gold crowd. "AND NOW FOR GRYFFINDOR'S LINE UP! "BLACK, JOHNSON, SMITH, DRYDEN, LI, THOMPSON, AND...................POTTER! The screaming and clapping from the Gryffindor crowd echoed in the gigantic stadium. "LET THE GAME BEGIN!"

When Claire flew out on to the field she could feel the weight of the days gone by removed. She felt free as she circled round the stadium, the crowd's shouts echoing in her ears. Her thoughts of remaining in bed asleep were far gone. This was better then a dream because she didn't have to wake up. She could feel her thick black hair swishing against her neck, she could smell the air, and she could see the everlasting blue of the sky. Claire felt like everything was gone up above the world; she felt happy for the first time since she had learned of her mother's disease. In fact soaring up above the tiny speaks of gold and red she wondered if she could have her mother fly so she could feel the relief.

Sirius followed Claire with his eyes as she took off and soared away from him. He sighed loudly and kicked off attempting to follow her. But it didn't work she only sped up. Sirius felt sad for a matter of seconds until the adrenaline rushed into system. This is why he loved games, all the energy and strength it took. It made him so focused and concentrated that he could shove aside whatever problems he had even the one that had been lurking in his shadow for days. Even Claire could not interfere with his game. In fact he would not later, he straight out refused.

Dylan pushed off the ground rather quickly as she stepping onto her broom and soared out into the arena. As she flew around she looked in the seats for Remus and Lily, though she knew they were far too small to see them. But as she turned back to get into her position, flying round the hoops, she could've sworn she had seen them. And with that feeling she smiled. It would be ok after all; if she really loved him then he would help her relearn. Dylan laughed at this realization, for most of her thoughts came up on a broom. It was where she could think about things in perspective and see the way others saw. Circling around those same hoops helped her sort out her problems.

Unlike the rest of his team, James flew directly towards his starting spot. He there waited for them to take their warm up. After 6 years, James had not made the team his first year, he had not once taken a warm up lap. Well he had the first game and it had broken his concentration. James was very serious about Quidditch because it was one of the few things that he really and I mean really knew about. His knowledge was extensive on the subject because his father had loved watching the sport. James knew every move, every strategy, and could play every position well though he had a knack for seeking.

As his team flew in around him James began to give some last advice. "Alright, we're going to win this because it's my last year and I want to beat Slytherin. Now Claire you're our main scorer out of the chasers, Parkinson often neglects her right hoop. Look to score there. The rest of you chasers I want to see some of those weaves we did the other day and Sirius no messing about. Beaters I want a clean game so that Hooch can't call us on anything. That doesn't mean I don't want some action, do what it takes but stay within the rules. And Dylan..."

"Yes King James?" she said yawing at his speech.

"I want a shut out."

"Oh alright, I'll try. Though I might let a few in just to bug you," she said with a smile.

"Well..." James trailed off as Madam Hooch stepped up, this was her first year at Hogwarts and she looked rather young as James noticed.

"Alright I want a nice clean game. Now shake hands," she demanding looking at James and Taylor the two captains and seekers.

James reluctantly reached out his hand. Taylor shook it rather hard and ending it with a squeeze that could leave bruises. But James did not care, Taylor would be sorry in the end. And with the ending of the shake the whistle sounded and the quaffle was thrown into the air. The game had begun.

James immediately gripped his broom and soared upwards. From the corner of his eye he watched Taylor fly off in the other direction. He began to scan the air looking for the snitch although he highly doubted it would show itself this early in the game. As James' blue eyes searched his chest swelled with pride, his chasers were amazing. They worked as one speeding up and down as if playing keep away from a three year old who could barely manage to touch them.

"10 POINTS FOR GRYFFINDOR!" came the shout of Smith though it was heard only ten seconds later. But James rarely listening to the commentary, it distracted him.

James spotted a tint of gold next to Dylan as he zoomed about but as he dove down he realized it was only her earring. "Dylan," he said exasperated, "I told you to take off all jewelry, it's distracting."

"Oops, sorry James," she said, "but if you don't mind you're distracting me and Gameson is coming with the quaffle."

"Oh, yes, well then, don't let anything in," he said as he flew off.

James was back to looking for the quaffle when Smith screamed once again, "It's 150 to 20; Dylan Dryden is doing an excellent job of goalkeeping. She has only let 2 in." Though the yelling irked him when he could not tone it out this still made him smile, Dylan really was an amazing Keeper. Although he would have to get on to her for letting in the quaffle twice, he was hoping for a complete shut out.

Minutes passed by and still James found nothing. The snitch was nowhere in site and they had been playing for over an hour. This was the longest it had ever taken him to catch it. Just in case, though, he checked over to see what Taylor was doing, nothing. In fact it looked as though the boy had barely moved from the spot he had first soared off to.

But just then he noticed Taylor go into a dive. Right around Flints ear the snitch was hovering. James dived downward gain speed every second. The wind rushed into his face and whipped off his glasses. He could no longer see clearly, but as he reached the big blob of green which he thought was Flint a speck of gold flashed in his eyes. He reached out and shoved what appeared to be Taylor's hand aside. Grasping the snitch it one hand he smiled. They had won.

Lily watched James and the team all fly down to the ground. She cheered along with the rest of the victorious crowd and slowly made her way down to her friends with Remus. It was hard going, though, because the students were all shoving racing to get down the fastest. But they finally found James, Claire, Dylan, and Sirius.

"PARTY!" James screamed the moment Lily and Remus approached him. The rest tiredly nodded and set off walking.

It was a picture perfect walk up to Hogwarts. The sun rose in the cloudless afternoon sky shinning down upon the six friends (Peter was off somewhere, he was rarely seen around them anymore, but all of them were too wrapped up in their lives to notice.) They walked in a straight line, all their faces against the wind smiling in spite of it. And their rosy checks gleamed as they smiled. It was an image that Lily could never forget.
