Ten minutes to midnight. After the cat had made sure that Anna was fast
asleep, it gently pried itself from the itako's arms and swept one last look at its beloved owner before trotting away towards a clearing in the
woods.
~o~O~o~
Exactly midnight. A figure stops in front of a pond and a bright light wraps around its slim form.
The bright light diminishes, leaving a spiky haired individual clad only in pants.
Yoh—a shirtless Yoh.
"Brrr. . .," Yoh managed to croak out during his shivering. "I-it's s-s-s- so c-cold."
"Who told you to go out shirtless?" Ren snapped. (Don't ask me, he just happened to be there.)
Yoh smiled sheepishly, suddenly forgetting about the chilly weather. "Yo Ren! When did you get here?"
"Just now," Ren replied with a frown. "But I should be appearing not until the later part of the story."
Yoh smiled some more.
"So how's the life of a cat?" Horo Horo asked with an expression far from Ren's. (He also happened to be there.^^)
Yoh stretched lazily and settled himself on the grass. "Relaxing."
"And," Horo Horo had a mischievous glint in his eye. "Anna?"
A sudden flash of sixteen-year-old Anna appeared in Yoh's mind. The shaman king turned red faster than Horo Horo could rush to the comfort room and chuckled nervously. "Uh—"
"What about the witch?" Ren inquired.
"The witch," The ainu started. "Has gotten the curves."
Another image flashed inside Yoh's mind, this time his cat self buried in Anna's mounds while she poured her heart out. 'I love Yoh'—The thought caused him to turn bright red. Yoh chuckled more nervously, sweat pouring down in an inhuman rate as a malicious grin formed on Horo Horo's lips.
"And I was asking Yoh how he liked it."
"Um. . .ehehe. . .I, I-I-it's okay." Yoh stuttered, redder than ever.
"What am I missing?" Horo Horo said, suddenly turning suspicious.
"Um. . .A-Anna doesn't know I'm the cat. . ."Yoh supplied desperately to cover up the real answer.
Horo Horo and Ren gaped at him incredulously. "WHAT?! WHY?!"
Another nervous chuckle. "I can only turn back during midnight right? So I can't tell her and—"
~I'll supply that. She isn't supposed to know, because I say so.~
A whirl of white light suddenly formed on top of the lake.
"What the—"
~I'm back!~
Ren, Yoh: O.O
Horo Horo: You were gone?!
~o~O~o~
~Pssst Anna~
I opened a bloodshot eye and glanced outside the window. It was dark, and I was relatively positive that it was midnight.
"Of all these days, you decided to come back NOW??!" If the narrator weren't just a voice, I would have clobbered him, muttered a 'go to hell' and went right back to sleep. But nooo I had to get up in the middle of the night and go do whatever the narrator wants me to.
~...Anyways on with the story~
I grumbled under my breath.
~Anna was still up until midnight because of insomnia,~
I snorted. Riiiight.
~So the princess decided get a drink of water downstairs.~
The sight of 7 Mantas each wearing their own eye bags and PJ's greeted me when I arrivedon the first floor.
"Ohayo." A Manta said tiredly while yawning.
~The midg—dwarf gave the princess a basket and told her to pick some berries in the forest.
Another Manta gave me a basket. "Please *yawn* go pick some berries *yaaaaaaaaawn* princess."
More grumbling, then I grabbed the basket and proceeded to the forest, banging the door loudly in the process.
A Manta rubbed his eyes. "Now for some sleep." The 7 Mantas yawned in unison and made a beeline for the couch.
~But the dwarves only sent Anna to pick berries so that they could surprise her with a birthday present.~
All the Mantas groaned.
"It's Anna-san's birthday?"
~. . .~
~. . .~
~I think so. . .~
~o~O~o~
~Just as she arrived at the forest, Anna started to sing aloud while picking the berries~
The muscle on my cheek twitched madly but I started to sing anyway.
"A, B, C, D, E F, G. . ."
What's that look for? He didn't specify.
~o~O~o~
"H, I, J, K—"
Yoh stood up from his seated position. "What was that?"
The brunette scanned the clearing. There was no one left except for himself, the ainu and Chinese had already disappeared minutes ago.
"—L, M N O—"
"Where is that coming from?" Yoh asked himself, slogging out of the clearing and into the forest to find the owner of that voice.
