AN: Whee, more inspiration. Not sure, but I may be the first to write a Dark Water fanfic...

Sayonara, Mama

"Mama!" I screamed. Why wouldn't she get out of the lift? Why did that monster get mama? I was the one who found her bag in the first place!
I remember it as if it were five minutes ago. Mama was fighting for custody over me, and we moved into that house. I didn't notice the ceiling dripping water.
Then I saw the monster at school, wearing a yellow raincoat. I passed out.
Later, I found out that she was a girl named Mitsuko, who had gone missing. She had drowned in the water tower at the top of the roof of our new flat.
I remember mama finding me in the house where Mitsuko lived. Every tap had been turned on, and I almost froze to death.
And then the monster showed up in the lift, and took hold of mama. I remember her face, green and decomposing. And mama chose her over me.
"Ikuko!" She shouted. "Leave!" And then the doors closed.
I ran as fast as possible to the top floor, and then the lift arrived. The doors opened and the hallway was flooded with water. I stared in horror. Mama and that dead girl, Mitsuko, had disappeared!
Ten years later, I went back to my old flat in the building, which had been deserted for years.
I opened the door. Everything was in perfect condition. I saw mama on the bed brushing her hair.
"Mama! You've been here all this time!" I said, overjoyed. I hadn't seen mama in so long.
She smiled. "Yes, Ik-chan." I asked her why she didn't come to visit me, and then told her I wanted to live here with her.
"Gomen, Ik-chan, but you must go back to your father. I have to take care of somebody else now." She answered sadly, looking over my shoulder. I knew that girl, Mitsuko was stood behind me.
I turned around. Nobody was there. I turned back to say goodbye to mama, but she had vanished too.
I was then I accepted. She was dead. She killed herself so Mitsuko had a family. I had father and mama, but Mitsuko had nobody. But now I could accept that mama was gone.
Sayonara, mama. Take care of Mitsuko...
