'There is always a theory, it does not matter what the theory is about, but
there is always a theory. The difference between whether or not you are
eligible for level two or three relies upon what you do with this theory.
You'll never advance if you stick adamantly to your theory, and don't
accept the changes that the evidence throws at you. Yet if you follow the
evidence, which will never lie to you, you'll find that you will jump ranks
swiftly..... Theories are made by everyone, about everything, my teacher told
me this as I spoke about the idea of a theory. Back then my writing was
horrid, it probably still is now, but here's a line from the notes I used
"Often theories are tainted with lies, witnesses rarely remember
everything, and they say what they think you want to hear, you can rarely
get a straight answer from a witness. The suspect can and will likely say
almost anything to get out of what he doesn't want to admit, that he
committed the crime" Somehow, I know that in the future, I'll still be
advancing in my field, drawing new conclusions, and changing the face of
forensic science and the law, perhaps it'll go so far as live animals will
be allowed in the courtroom... perhaps not.'
The paper was yellowing, yet was still readable, the professor spoke
"Students, this journal you are gazing upon belonged to the greatest
forensic expert of this century Ms. Kathleen Gamst, she, in the three years
that she worked with the FBI and FWS managed to do amazing things, yet she
went missing five years ago, she would be thirty now, no one knows where
she is where she went, or even if she is still alive. The case went cold
nearly instantly..."
ring, ring ring, ring "Hello?" A groggy voice responds to the ringing of the phone, her husband had already left for work, she glances over at the digital alarm clock, it reads 5:00 am, A man's voice came over through the phone's line "Is this Catherine Taylor?" She sighed, 'what would this man want?' she thought as she responded "Yes, that's who's speaking." The man cleared his throat, he seemed worried, "Sir, this is a secure phone line, what is it that you want?" Her senses had started to awaken, and she seemed curious as to what was happening, "Ma'am, I'm with the Las Vegas CSI, and well, we've heard that you're good with animal cases." She was fully awake now, and was quickly scribbling down notes as to what he was saying, "It depends on what type of animals you are talking about." "Wildlife, ma'am, we have suspicions that we've interrupted a poaching chain that connects California, New York and Nevada. We contacted the Fish and Wildlife Service, but they were too busy to talk to us. We've heard you're good, and we'd like your help, preferably by tomorrow." "You're serious?" She blinked; perhaps this would be a case that would bring her to national attention again. "Well, I don't know that much... but I'll be there as soon as I can."
