Chapter 2 Explanations
"Mr. Potter, Mrs. Wesley, why aren't you in bed? And who are these extra people."
"Umm," Harry said, "Professor McGonagall, meet James Potter, Lily Pot- "Ginny whispered something in his ear, telling him that his parents weren't even going out, "Lily Evens and Sirius Black."
Professor McGonagall lips which had been pursed and thin were now white, as was the rest of her face.
"If you don't mind, Professor" Harry said, "I think we should go see Professor Dumbledore."
"I agree whole heartedly." Professor McGonagall said, "Follow me. I trust you know the way." She grinned back at them.
They followed her out of the portrait hole.
James whispered to Sirius, "I can't believe that she still works here."
To which Sirius replied, "I can't believe that she is still alive."
"I heard that," Professor McGonagall said.
Harry heard Sirius whisper something and Ginny say, "No, I have a boyfriend, and I want you to stop touching me NOW!"
"Back off Black." Lily said.
Ginny started laughing like a maniac.
"What's so funny?" Sirius asked.
"It just occurred to me that you are old enough to be my father.
"Well," Sirius said, "Don't you like older men?"
"Mr. Black," Professor McGonagall said, not turning around, "Stop hitting on Mrs. Weasley, her boyfriend, Mr. Potter, who by the way has detention,(she said that to Harry) wouldn't like it."
"Why do I have detention?"
"You punched Draco Malfoy, multiple times."
James smiled and said, "That's my son, beating up a Malfoy."
"I think," Lily said, "that it is totally barbaric."
"You would, my sweet Lilikins," James said, in a baby voice.
Lily looked about ready to slap James when Professor McGonagall stopped and said, "Acid Pops." And as they stone gargoyles jumped aside, they all walked up the stairs to the headmaster's office. When they walked up to the door of his office, they all thought they heard voices form inside, they knocked.
"Come in," said the laughing voice of their headmaster.
"Albus," Professor McGonagall said, "I think we have a problem. Meet, again James Potter, Lily Potter, and Sirius Black."
"Lily Potter?" Lily said shrilly "Evens, Lily Evens."
"Whatever you say, my sweet." James said.
Dumbledore turned around, and to the first time anybody could remember looked surprised.
"Hey!" a portrait behind Dumbledore shouted, "That's James and Sirius, Hi guys."
"Hi, Cecilia," they both said in unison. It struck Harry how much his father and godfather must have gotten in trouble, to be well acquainted with the portraits.
"You may all sit," Dumbledore said.
"What is going on?" Lily asked Professor Dumbledore.
"Why don't we ask the people who, I suppose, brought you here," He said, looking at James and Sirius's all too innocent faces.
"Well," James said, "what happened was...you see-It was all Sirius' idea."
"Thank you, my dear best friend." Sirius said sarcastically looking at James.
"Well," Lily said, "I don't care whose idea it was, I want to go home."
"Don't be a baby, Evens," Sirius said, "Well we wanted to know our future and so we just you know, did the spell in How to See You're Future For Dummies."
"That book should be outlawed," Professor McGonagall said.
"Ahhh," Professor Dumbledore said, "Say no more, you said the spell wrong and came to your future. Am I correct? Well I am sorry to say, you will be here for at least a year."
"Where will we stay?" James asked.
"Maybe you could stay with Harry." He said.
"Actually," Harry said, "I don't think my aunt Petunia would like that very much."
"Petunia?" Lily asked before running to Harry and hugging him and repeating "I am so sorry."
Harry heard James mutter across the room, "Lucky duck" before Dumbledore told Lily to sit back down.
"Why does Harry live with my evil, cold, heartless sister?" Lily asked.
"Because, Dumbledore started but before he could finish...
"Yeah, James, he is obviously your offspring, why didn't you send him to me or Remus, or even Peter."
"Yeah, I would send him to Black before I sent him to my sister."
"Thank you Lily," Sirius said, "You must think very high of me."
"No," Lily said, "I just hate my sister with every fiber of my being."
"Oh."
"Well," Professor Dumbledore said, solemnly. "As you may or may not have noticed, Harry here was your son, James and Lily, and was your godson Sirius."
"Was?" Lily asked.
"Before you were killed by Voldermort fifteen years ago. He tried to kill Harry, but, it back fired and almost killed him."
"What?" Lily and James exclaimed.
"Well," Sirius said, "Then why wasn't he sent to me? You said he was my godson."
"He would have gone to you," Dumbledore said, "except, everybody thought that you were their secret keeper when really it was Peter."
"That evil bloody-"Sirius started.
"So, everybody, I am ashamed to say, myself included, thought that Sirius was a Voldermort supporter. Then, Sirius was framed again by Peter when Peter murdered thirteen people and turned himself into a rat and was in hiding for twelve years.
"Sirius was sent to Azkaban and then, five years ago, escaped to seek vengeance on Peter. And you, when you failed to kill Peter, went into hiding until you moved back into Thirteen Grimmauld Place. At the end of last year, as Voldermort finally returned to full power, Sirius was killed in the Department of Mysteries in a battle with Belatrixe Lastronge."
A stunned silence followed this.
"I know all this is a little tough to process but," Professor McGonagall said, "You all need to get to sleep."
"Are they going to sleep in Gryffindor tower?" Harry asked.
"Well they are Gryffindors aren't they?" Dumbledore asked.
"I need to go, Professor," Ginny said, "I have Prefect duties."
"Well then go," Professor McGonagall said.
Ginny leaned over and kissed Harry on the lips.
"I suppose," Dumbledore said, "that I should have the house elves bring up beds."
"Professor," Lily said, "you are still using house elves? Are you paying them? Giving them vacations? Breaks? Any benefits at all?"
Harry started laughing.
"I'm sorry," Lily said, sharply, "But I don't think that slavery is terribly funny."
"I don't either, it's just you sound like Hermione and her SPEW thing."
At that moment, as if hearing her name, Hermione came in through the door.
Hermione had changed a lot over the summer. Her once bushy, brown hair, had become smooth and sleek. She was taller and thinner to. She had curves also.
"Professor," she said, "I wanted to tell you that everything is okay in the halls. I am going to go to be- Oh I'm sorry I didn't know you had guests."
"Quite alright, Ms. Granger. In fact, I think that the house elves have brought up the beds now, could you escort Ms. Evens to Gryffindor tower?"
"I wish you would think about what I said about house elf rights," Hermione and Lily said in unison.
"Good night, all of you," Professor McGonagall said, before anybody said anything.
Sirius walked up beside Lily and put his arm around her.
"Hello, Beautiful," he said, "Have I met you in my dreams?"
"I don't think Ron would like you touching me, he is really angry tonight at being put in detention for braking Malfoy's nose." Hermione said.
Sirius dropped his arm, and Harry heard him whisper, "I am going to beat all these guys that keep stealing these beautiful girls." Harry smiled to himself as he climbed through the portrait hole.
