Chapter 5: Some Pranks and a Little Kiss
"Lily Evens!" Hermione yelled. "I cannot believe you! You like James and you are going out with Dean. You cannot just lead him on like that. It is mean."
"I know," Lily said. "But I don't know what else to do. Maybe if I go out with Dean for a while it will all make more sense to me?"
"How would that make more sense to you?" Ginny asked.
"I don't know," Lily said, starting to cry again. "I just don't know."
"Calm down," Hermione said putting her arm around Lily.
"I am sure that you will figure it all out soon enough," Ginny said soothingly.
"Do you want to go eat dinner?" Hermione asked.
"Alright," Lily said tearfully.
"But," Ginny said, "You really need to do something about James and Dean."
"I will," Lily said, "I will do something. I just don't know what."
The girls walked down to the common room interrupting, what looked like a secret meeting between Harry, Ron, James, and Sirius.
"What is going on?" Ginny asked.
"Nothing that concerns you, Miss Nosey Pants," Sirius said.
"Well sorry," Ginny said indignantly, "But, after years of knowing Harry, I know that look in his eyes means danger."
"To bad," Sirius said, "You will just have to wait and see what happens when it happens."
"Whatever," Hermione said cutting Ginny off before she could retort. "We are going to diner."
"I will follow you anywhere, my sweet," Sirius said.
"Rules, Sirius, rules," Hermione said not turning around.
They all climbed out of the portrait hole and made their way down to the Great Hall.
"Mmmmm," James said, "It smells so good in here. I want to eat everything in sight."
"Whatever floats your boat," Lily said dismissively. She walked over next to Dean and sat down.
"What does she think she is doing?" James asked angrily.
"She probably thinks she is sitting with her boyfriend," Ginny said.
"Well," James said, "She should be sitting with her son, getting to know him."
They all sat down, not in very good spirits. They ate their diner in silence, nobody really wanting to talk to anybody else. They stayed quite until they heard Lily giggling at the other end of the table.
James looked and saw Lily leaning over giving Dean a soft kiss on the cheek.
He stood up abruptly and muttered something like, "I have to go do....something," and left the Great Hall quickly.
They didn't see James again until the next morning on the way to breakfast.
"Are you okay?" Ron asked as James came down the stairs from the boy's dormitory.
"Yeah," James said, "I just had to do some thinking."
"Okay," Ron said.
They walked to the Great Hall. They sat down and, much to their surprise; Lily came and sat down next to them.
"What," James asked coldly, "Do you want? Why aren't you sitting with you boyfriend?"
"Me and Dean," Lily said looking slightly hurt, "Decided to be just friends."
"Oh," James said looking apologetic, "Why?"
"We had less in common than we thought."
"That's great," James said enthusiastically.
Lily looked at James with a weird expression on her face.
"Thank you for you sympathy."
First classes passed quickly that morning which was surprising because they were all exited to go to DADA that afternoon.
At lunch, James, Sirius, Ron, and Harry seemed more chatty than usual.
"Something is up," Ginny whispered to Hermione and Lily.
"How can you tell?" Lily asked looking at the boys.
"You can't?" Hermione asked looking at the boys also.
"Not really," Lily said, "James and Sirius usually act like that right before they-CRAP! Run!"
"What?" Hermione and Ginny asked, puzzled.
"Just run, I have a feeling something bad is going to happened."
They got up and bolted for the door when they swung shut in their faces.
"Crap," Lily said, "We are in trouble now."
"What is going on?" Hermione asked.
"James and Sirius are going to prank somebody, a really big prank too, judging by the looks on their faces."
"What are we going to do?" Ginny asked pulling on the doors, they were locked.
"HIDE," Lily said.
They made their way to duck under the tables, but just as they did James grabbed Lily, Harry grabbed Ginny, and Ron grabbed Hermione. They sat the girls on the bench and said "sit," and walked off.
"We are in trouble," Lily whispered.
"This is going to be big, isn't it?" Ginny asked.
"Oh yeah," Lily said.
Just then, a loud BANG resounded throughout the Great Hall. Fireworks exploded from every corner. Smoke filled the Great Hall. Lily heard screams from somewhere in the hall.
As soon as the smoke cleared, everybody in the hall started laughing at the Sytherin table. Lily, Ginny, and Hermione looked over at the table and saw every person sitting there drenched in red and gold paint. But, even more than that, Draco Malfoy, standing on the table, dressed as a belly dancer doing a belly dance on the table and Blaise Zabini was screaming at the top of his lungs that he loved Pansy Parkinson.
"I thought you said this was going to be bad," Ginny said. "This is funny."
"Just wait," Lily said.
Another loud BANG sounded and more smoke filled the hall.
As the smoke cleared everyone searched the hall looking for who they pranked next.
There was more laughter. Professor Lupin's hair was bright pink and he was left in his underwear. Professor Snape was in a showgirl's outfit doing the can-can.
"Oh know," Lily said.
"What?" Hermione asked.
"They did this once."
"Did what?" Ginny inquired.
"They went around to each table and pranked two people on each table."
"Except Gryffindor; right?" Hermione asked slightly worried.
"No," Lily said." Even Gryffindor."
Another BANG; more smoke and a Ravenclaw 5th year was pulling faces and picking his nose and Cho Chang was doing a seductive dance while stripping.
Another BANG; more smoke and a 1st year Hufflepuff was doing the Chicken Dance and a third year boy was skipping in a bikini singing about how much he loved Orlando Bloom.
"This is going to be bad," was all Lily said. Hermione and Ginny felt an impending sense of doom.
The loudest BANG of all was heard and more smoke filled the hall and Lily was lifted off of the bench. Hermione and Ginny tried to grab her but it was no use, the pull was to strong.
Lily was in the air when her clothes started to vaporize and her hair started to turn green. She screamed. In the distance, she saw Dean Thomas lifted off the ground and started spinning in the air and started singing random obscure show tunes until...
"STOP THIS NOW!!!!" Professor McGonagall screamed. "THIS IS LUNICY AND MUST STOP. AND GIVE THOSE POOR GIRLS THEIR CLOTHES BACK!!"
Everything stopped. The noise stopped. The smoke cleared. And everybody stopped laughing.
"YOU FOUR FOLLOW ME!!!"
They trudged out of the hall after their angry professor.
Lily, Ginny, and Hermione ran out of the hall and up to the common room.
As soon as they entered the common room, Lily collapsed onto the couch into fits of giggles.
"That was the funniest thing I have ever witnessed," She said trough gales of laughter. "I hope they don't get into to much trouble for that."
Ginny and Hermione just stood there not knowing what to do.
"Did you see Snape? Or that oriental girl in Ravenclaw? I felt bad, but it was all so funny."
People started filing into the common room chatting about what just happened.
After about fifteen minutes James, Sirius, Ron, and Harry came into the common room looking grave.
"James!" Lily yelled to him. "Can I talk to you?"
"Listen, Lily," James started, "I'm sorry. I did-"
"Just come on," Lily said pulling him out of the common room.
The portrait door swung closed.
"Thank you, James," Lily said.
"For what?"
"I don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time."
"But you were half naked in front of the school."
"Are you going to accept your thank you or just going to babble?"
"Umm," James said.
Lily kissed him. A deep kiss, full of passion. James snaked his arms around her waist. Lily put her arms around his neck and played with his hair.
Just when the kiss got deeper, Lily pulled away leaving a dumbstruck James staring at her with a slack jaw.
"Good night James," Lily said smirking. "And again, thank you for the laugh tonight."
She walked into the common room leaving confused James in her wake.
A/N Hey. Guess what? SPRING BREAK!! THAT'S WHAT! So that means I will be spending as much time as possible on my story.
