Chapter 8: Confessions and Questions The last few weeks of school were hectic but went by fast and before they knew it; it was time to go home.
"I'm so nervous," Lily said the day before they went home. Everybody was sitting in the common room waiting for dinner.
"What are you nervous about?" James asked putting his arms around Lily.
"Going to my sister's house," she replied cuddling up to James's chest.
"Aww, come on," Harry said. "We won't be there for the whole summer."
"We won't?" Lily asked.
"No," Ron said, "We are probably going to meet at Grimauld Place."
"WHAT?" Sirius said yanking his attention away from Lavender.
"Oh, you didn't know?"
"No," He said, "No, I can't go to my parent's house."
"Come on Sirius," Ginny said soothingly, "it won't be that bad and it will only be for a couple of months until we come back to school."
"I... I'm going to bed," Sirius said distractedly.
"Sirius!" Lavender said attempting to run after him, but James stopped her.
"Just let him think," James said.
Lavender huffily walked upstairs to the girl's dormitory.
"You know what?" Lily said, "I am so tired. I think that I am going to go to bed too."
"Good idea," James said standing up with her in his arms and carrying her to the boy's staircase.
"James!" she yelled, "Not your bed."
"Oh," James said walking to the girl's staircase and failing as the stairs turned into a slide and they both fell down into a heap on the ground.
"James, you prat," Lily said.
"What?" James said trying to get up and failing miserably. "Why am I a prat?"
"Don't play stupid!" Lily yelled. "I'm tired and I want to go to bed."
"Sorry, Lily, I didn't mean to-"
"Oh," Lily said getting up, "stuff it."
"What did I do?" James asked.
"I don't know?" Harry said looking dumbstruck. "But you better fix it or I might not be born," Harry laughed until Ginny stood up and yelled at him too.
"Harry Potter," She yelled. "You are such a retard. It's clear as day why you mother is mad and you and your father are just too full of yourself to see."
"Why is she mad?" Harry asked honestly confused now.
"Oh you... you... oh, good night," she yelled and went up stairs.
"Why," Harry said, "did we choose to fall in love with redheaded women?"
"I have no clue," James said. "But I wouldn't trade them for the world. Would you?"
"No," Harry said and walked upstairs to go to sleep.
The next day everyone was running around trying to make sure that everything they needed was in their trunk.
"Lily," James said when they were on the train.
"I don't want to talk to you right now," was all she said and walked to a different compartment with her trunk behind her.
"I don't get it," James said sitting down in the compartment with Harry, Sirius, Lavender, Ron and Hermione.
"James," Hermione said, "Lily is stressed out really bad right now and you aren't doing anything to help her."
"Oh," James said. "I wouldn't even have thought of that."
"That is because you are a guy."
"Hey!" Sirius said, "That's not fair, not all guys are like that."
"Yes," Lavender said, "They are."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"I am not having this argument with you. I am right and you know it."
Sirius folded his arms across his chest and sat back on a chair with a frown on his face.
Lavender burst out laughing.
"What?" Sirius asked.
"You look like a two-year-old."
"So, Hermione," Harry said, "If you are so smart why is Ginny so upset?"
"Oh, well, that one is a little less obvious. But I think that it has something to do with the fact that she is scared because she has never spent more than a couple of days away from you and she is afraid that you will move on over the summer and get a new girlfriend."
"That is crazy," Harry said.
"Not to her," Hermione said.
"But I love her. Why would I just move on in a couple of months?"
"Because you are The Harry Potter and you are quite possibly the most wanted guy in Hogwarts."
"No," James said, "that would be me."
"I'll be right back," Harry said and walked out of the compartment.
Harry walked down the hallway looking for the compartment that Ginny was in. He found her in the very last one reading a book.
"Gin?" Harry said tentatively.
"What?"
"Can we talk?"
"Talk."
"Ginny," Harry complained.
"Fine. Let's go."
They walked down the hall and stopped half way down.
"Ginny, I don't think that I have ever told you this, but, I... I..."
"You what, Harry?"
"I think I... Ginny, I love you."
Ginny's expression changed from icy and annoyed to a look that clearly said she wanted to hug him and kiss him and jump his bones.
"W... What did you say?"
"Ginny I love you," Harry said clearly and more confident now.
"Harry, I love you too," Ginny said before wrapping her arms around his neck and giving him a great big hug.
"Are we okay now?" Harry asked tentatively, he didn't want Ginny to think that was the only reason that he told her he loved her, because it was really true.
"Of course," Ginny said burying her face in Harry's neck.
They walked back into the compartment to find Lily staring out of the window.
"Does he know that I'm not mad at him I'm just stressed out right now and I wasn't in the mood for jokes last night?" Lily asked when they walked in as if they had been talking for hours.
"I think so," Harry said, "but Lily, he's really scared that you are going to hate him forever."
"Of course I won't! He knows that. You are the evidence."
"I could go tell him that," Harry said. "Or I could go get him for you."
"Could you go get him?" Lily asked. Harry nodded and ran out of the room.
"So," Lily said, "now that I got rid of Harry what did he say?"
"He told me that," Ginny said, "he told me that he loved me."
"Oh, Ginny!" Lily said, "I'm so happy for you."
"So, what's up with you and James?"
"I don't know. I love him but sometimes he is just too goofy. You know?"
"Harry is that way too. What is it with Potter men?"
"I don't know but I wouldn't trade them for the world."
Harry and James walked in.
"Ginny," Harry said, "let's go back to the others."
Harry and Ginny walked out of the compartment to leave James and Lily alone.
"James," Lily said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap. I was just under a lot of stress and you didn't get it and it's not going away and... and... James, what's wrong?"
James had paled considerably since he had walked in. He pulled something out of his pocket and looked at it.
"James?" Lily asked worried.
James got down on one knee.
"Lily," he said opening up the box, "I bought this ring for you in third year when I knew that one day you were going to be my wife."
"James?" Lily asked.
"I love you, Lily Evans with all my heart. I don't want to live without you. Lillian Marie Evans, will you marry me? I know that we have to finish school and go back to our time and..."
But he never finished. He was cut off by Lily's lips on his.
James was soaring. He was going to marry his one true love and they were going to have a son and they were going to live happily ever after...
A/N: Isn't it so sweet? It is kind of important but short. A little on the fluffy side but it all works out. READ & REVIEW!!!! Oh, and by the way I read that last part at the end of the chapter and it kind of sounded like Lily was pregnant, but she isn't I just meant that she and James are going to have Harry one day.
