Chapter 9: The Summer

Harry, Sirius, Lily, and James had been home for about two weeks and were all eager for the letter telling them to come to Grimaluld Place. That much was evident when Sirius and Uncle Vernon got into a screaming match over crumbs on the butter from the toast.

"When are they going to write us?" Sirius asked one day.

"How are we supposed to...?" Lily started until an owl came in and dropped something on the head. "It's here!"

"Well open it." Sirius urged wringing his hands so as not to grab the letter from her hands.

Lily opened the letter and read, "We will pick you all up tomorrow at 12:00. I've got to go, Loves, Hermione."

"Halleluiah!" Sirius yelled.

The next afternoon, they were all packed and ready to go. Ron and Hermione were at the house promptly at 12:00. Sirius nearly mauled them when they arrived in the fire place.

"I thought that you would never get here," Sirius said, jumping around Ron and Hermione.

"Are you all ready to go?" Ron asked, his head bobbing up and down following Sirius's movements.

"Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes," Sirius screamed running at the fire place at top speed.

"So," Ron said, "Sirius doesn't like you aunt and uncle, Harry?"

"Not in the slightest," Harry laughed.

As the last person, James, stepped out of the fire, he was engulfed in hugs and kisses.

"Are you hungry, dear?" Molly asked tut-tutting around trying to pry some food from Sirius's hands.

"Why is everybody acting like this?" James asked Lily.

"I think I let it slip to Ginny and Hermione that we were going to get married when we get back to our time and graduate."

"That is just great," James said dryly.

"Well, I didn't mean to. It was an accident... of sorts."

"Of sorts?"

"Well, I told Ginny and Hermione and they both squealed really loud and Molly came up and wouldn't leave until we told her and then she told everybody else."

"Really?"

"That is really how it happened."

That night, there was a huge celebration dinner for Lily and James and a small party with only everybody in the Order invited. By the time everybody went to sleep, it was three in the morning.

Harry woke up the next morning to the smell of bacon and eggs and toast. As he got up he noticed that he was the only person in the room that he shared with Ron, James and Sirius. He walked down the hall and heard a bellow that woke Sirius's mother downstairs. He ran to where the sound came from and saw Sirius pale and shaking and looking slightly ill.

"What's the matter? What did you do?" Harry asked.

"I... I... I saw," he shivered, "Remus and Tonks kissing and... and" Sirius fell to the ground in a dead faint.

Ten minutes Sirius was woken up by Mrs. Weasly and Remus and Tonks were being given a talk by James about how to lock a door.

For the rest of summer, Sirius avoided his cousin and one of his best friends. But everybody else thought that Remus and Tonks made such a cute couple.

Two weeks before school got over, an owl flew in the open window and dropped two large envelopes in front of Ron. "Post from school came!" Ron yelled as he tore into his messages. "Books, and more dress robes. Okay; that I can handle." He opened the other envelope and saw, to his surprise, a head boy badge fall out of it. "MOM! DAD! I GOT HEAD BOY! I GOT HEAD BOY!" he yelled.

"What deary?" Molly said as she walked into his room to see all the commotion was.

"I...I," Ron said the shock was setting in, "I got head boy."

"Oh," Molly said, "my baby! My baby is head boy. What do you want this time?"

"Huh?"

"For getting head, what do you want this time?"

"More dress robes. The ones that Fred and George bought me are too small now."

"Okay, let me see your list and I will go and get you and Hermione's things. Well, and Harry and Lily and James and Sirius's too."

"Great. Hermione got head too then?"

"Of course, did you expect anything different?"

"Well, no. But it never hurts to ask."

"Okay. I will be back in a few hours. And then we will have another party for you and Hermione."

The next few days passed quickly and before anybody knew it, it was time to go back to school.

"Harry, where is my broom?" James yelled the morning they were leaving.

"How am I supposed to know?" Harry yelled back, searching for his books.

"You used it."

"No, Sirius used it."

"It's in you trunk!" Sirius called form the kitchen.

"Hurry! We have to leave now or we will never make it!" Molly yelled over everybody. "I'll send you anything you've forgotten later."

They all hurried out the door and were at platform 9and ¾ with time to spare.

"I wonder who the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher is this year?" Ginny wondered.

"It's Remus again." Molly said trying to get Sirius through the gateway.

"Can you believe it," Harry asked out loud, "This will be our last year at Hogwarts?"

"I know," Hermione said getting tearful, "This has been our home for six years and we will be leaving it forever in June."

"Go now!" Molly said shoving them all through the gateway. And there it was, the last year of Hogwarts for Harry Potter and the gang.

A/N: Yea!! I did it. I finally did it! I finished chapter nine. I am so sorry that it took so long but I was having life problems, school problems, family problems, and computer problems. I love reviews and to whoever it was who asked if Lily and James were getting married, they weren't going to get married until they graduated and got back to their time. Sorry for the confusion.
I love everybody who reviews and so you should.
