CHAPTER 6 – Old Tellers Never Lie
Someone was moving towards Baba. It caught her eye. Nervously, she floated to the backside of the giant hourglass and spied the person through the glass. "Nobody flies around here, who could it be?" The Prince landed lightly onto the stone courtyard and walked toward her. Baba was still unable to make out the person through the distorted glass so she dared to look around it. "Who...eeekkkk, Vegeta!"
"Baba! I want your assistance."
Reluctantly, she moved out from behind the hour glass. Sitting on her floating ball, Baba kept her eyes on her hands with the fingers lightly tapping one another.
"Fancy meeting you here. I mean what a surprise...even for an old fortune teller."
"Small world," Vegeta replied with a smirk.
Baba remained suspicious of the volatile Vegeta but ventured to look at the warrior. "May I say that was quite an impressive finishing move you did on Earth. I thought for sure it would work...but what do I know, eh?
"A move which proved futile."
"Maybe, maybe not. I see you retained your bodily form. Any plans for the future?"
"You tell me, fortune teller."
Baba spied another figure coming towards them and smiled. "Who's your friend?"
Speaking more to himself, "my Demon of Torment."
Sen heard the comment and could not resist, "I prefer Angel of Redemption...has a better ring to it." She stopped to stand near Vegeta, and bowed slightly to Baba. "But you may call me Sen."
Baba returned the courtesy with a bow and reply. "I am Baba, a humble fortune teller from Earth."
"Ah, I'm finding Earth has many wonders. I wished I had spent more time there."
"Enough. Old woman, she is of no concern. Is that the ball that shows you things?" Vegeta pointed at the crystal ball Baba was sitting on.
"Why do you want to know?"
"Not why! It is what I want to know!"
Cringing Baba returned her gaze to her hands and nervously played her fingers again. "I don't show for free you know...I have to make a living somehow."
With a devious grin the Prince, crossed his arms and eyed the old bat. "Oh my and here I am at a financial loss. I know...why don't I pay you with your life? Will that be adequate?
"NO, No, payment won't be necessary," shaking her palms at him. "For your heroic deed, you are entitled to a complimentary reading." Baba's eyebrows furrowed and she added, "Congratulations."
"How generous, now if you don't mind..."
Floating to the ground, Baba hopped off the ball and began rubbing her palms together. "So, what do you want to know?"
Vegeta took in a deep breath, "Finally," and sat down in a semi crisscross fashion with one knee pulled up to prop his arm. Sen moved in closer but remained standing behind the Prince.
"Show me Earth, I want to know what is happening."
Baba waved her hand over her crystal ball and began to chant: "Crystal Ball start to glow let Vegeta see a show...whhhyyydeeekkeeeboooo. Look deep into the ball. Crystal ball show him all, I am Baba heed my notion, show us Earth's most evil commotion."
As Baba continued to mutter the spell, hazy images began to appear in the ball. Suddenly they came into focus and Vegeta instantly recognized the blob, Majin Buu and that insect looking Babidee. He tensed, balling his hands into fists. Sen heard a low growl coming from the Prince. She leaned forward to get a closer look.
Baba stopped her chanting to see what was happening. "Majin Buu is attacking another city."
Buu flew through buildings causing them to collapse. People on the ground ran from the skyscrapers only to be crushed by falling ruins. The creature swooped down to torment a truck driver. He stopped the truck, waived at the driver then kicked the vehicle. It went sailing through the air crashing into others, ending in a pile of twisted metal and bodies.
Majin Buu returned to his master Babidee's side who was hovering over the leveled city. Babidee was laughing to himself: "Now where should we go next?"
It pained Vegeta to see the devastating results from the selfish choices he had made. Had he and Kakarot not fought they may have stopped the monster from reviving. "Baba! Where is Kakarot and the others? Why are they not stopping Buu?!"
Baba grudgingly began to chant again commanding the crystal ball to show him what he had asked. Dende's Lookout flashed then faded. Then it showed inside one of the lookout's rooms. They saw four individuals. Vegeta spotted Kakarot first and the tension he felt subsided. "You look surprising fit for one who survived my wrath, Kakarot. No doubt Dende is to blame."
"He can't hear you, Vegeta."
"I can't have everything, can I?" Vegeta said quietly and allowed a slight grin to appear briefly. He recognized another in the room. "My son."
Goku was speaking to Trunks and Goten, both standing rigid in front of him. Piccolo stood aside with his arms crossed and watched intently. "This time I want you to power up as much as you can without actually going Super Saiyan. It'll be easier to concentrate on learning if you're not under so much physical strain."
Vegeta's frustration returned. "What is the clown doing? He should be stopping Majin Buu not playing with children!"
Baba hated interruptions so she ventured to reply. "We may learn something, if we remain quiet during the viewing. Let's just watch, shall we?"
Everyone in the room froze and closed their eyes. Trunks started shaking. He was gritting his teeth and clutching his fists. "Darn, somebody told that creep where I live. I can't let him get there. My grandma and grandpa are still at home."
Vegeta's eyes narrowed, "What has gotten into my son?"
"Babidee is communicating telepathically to all of Earth's population." Even in the Afterworld Baba could still hear the creature's transmission in her head.
Goten walked over to Trunks. "Are you going?"
Someone else ran into the room. "Onna..." Vegeta pleaded quietly.
Bulma ran over to Goku shaking her fists at him. "I just heard everything. My mother and father are going to be killed!"
"Don't worry about it; we can just bring them back with the dragonballs." Goku tried to give Bulma a reassuring smile.
Bulma would have none of it. "And everyone else in the city?! What about them?!"
"We can bring everyone else back to normal with the second wish."
Everyone turned to Piccolo when he spoke. "That's impossible. Don't forget we already used our first wish to bring everyone back from the tournament. Which leaves only one wish left to repair Majin Buu's ruin."
"Oh yeah, I guess you're right there." Goku chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head. "Hmm...I got an idea." He got down on one knee and clasped his hands. "I'll bet you if we ask real nice, Shenron, will let us wish for two new wishes." Both boys glanced at each other with doubt.
Piccolo, also questioned the idea. "Will that really work?"
"Sure, why not?"
"Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt anything to ask him."
Bulma put her hands on her hips and leaned closer to glare at Goku. "Listen, if we let Majin Buu get to the West City and destroy it, then he'll destroy the dragon radar, Goku."
"Yeah, that does pose a problem...Trunks, listen up. I need you to go to Capsule Corp and bring back the radar."
"Huh?"
"While you do that, I'll get in front of Babidee and Majin Buu and slow them down."
"Are you sure about that? Those guys are pretty tough you know. There going to want to fight back."
"Yeah, but you let me worry about them. I'll be ok. Now, hurry up before they get ahead of you."
Trunks nodded to Goku then looked over to his mother when she called to him. "Trunks. You got to promise; please come back here if things get too dangerous for you."
"I promise."
His friend Goten stepped over to Trunks. "You fly fast, and get back here safe." They smiled at each other and Trunks ran to the door. He looked back and contemplated a moment on whether to leave.
Goku waving called to Trunks. "Good Luck, Trunks."
"Ah, they'll be fine," Trunks mumbled to himself. He went Super Saiyan as he ran to the edge of the Outlook. "Right. Time to fly." Off he went like a comet in the sky.
Bulma walked to the door to watch him leave and Goku followed. He rested a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry Bulma. Trunks is a resourceful little guy. He'll be alright."
"I know," she answered not quite convinced.
"No, I mean it. Vegeta isn't the only one of his parents he takes after, you know."
"Thank you." Bulma smiled up at her friend.
Goku walked backed to where his son stood. "Goten, I want you to stay here and hold down the fort for me, ok?"
"Ok"
"Good" He placed his hand on his boy's head and ruffled his hair a bit. "You're a good boy."
Goku nodded to Piccolo and placed two fingers on his forehead. He sought out Majin Buu's ki and found it. "That's it." and disappeared.
"Baba!"
"Keep your shirt on... Crystal ball show us all, I am Baba hear my plea, show us Majin Buu and Babidee." The ball went blank and then a new image came into focus.
Someone was moving towards Baba. It caught her eye. Nervously, she floated to the backside of the giant hourglass and spied the person through the glass. "Nobody flies around here, who could it be?"
