"Why, Neo?! Why'd you do that?" Such tension, feeling and an entire soul pushed out through her gritted teeth, spitting each word in her anger, disregarded tears springing into her furious eyes.

"Trin, you know that wasn't meant to happen...you know I-"

"No, Neo, you don't get it! That was an innocent man! You could have stopped the Agent getting to him. You're the One for Christ's sake!"

"Don't you think I would have done if I could?" he raised his voice at her, a rarity, but she was getting out of control. He could read the unmeasurable fury in her eyes and if he was honest, it made him feel guilty. He'd had to choose, and he'd chosen her. But he didn't regret it. It had taken less than a second. He'd gathered her to him and flown, hitting the sky at alarming speed and escaping the danger below.

"You left that man to take the rap for our mistakes, Neo. We should have stayed and got him out!" her temper was flaring up, her fists clenched into tight balls. He'd never seen her like this before, and he didn't get it. He'd watched her mercilessness running away with herself, seen her on ruthless killing sprees to achieve her aims, yet he know watched with confused guilt as she let rip over one man, who could have switched to an Agent at any second anyway.

She let out a sob of rage, and he advanced towards her, taking her in his arms, yet she pushed him away. Feeling a pang rise inside of him, he allowed himself to lose control.

"Trinity! Will you listen!? I wasn't about to let you die! If we'd stayed, that Agent would have shot you, and I wouldn't have been able to stop him. That guy was confused anyway- just another coppertop who we could never have saved."

She turned her back on him, the fire inside of her appearing to be snubbed out. She was shaking violently. He worried about her, and gently put his hands around her waist, trying to give her some feeling of solidarity. She crumpled, falling backwards into him, and he laced his fingers into hers.

"I don't think you understand." She stated it so quietly it was barely audible. Not knowing whether to ask what she meant, he kissed her cheek, catching a falling tear on his lips, tasting the salty, yet sweet taste of her, lapping up her bewitching scent. He hated arguing with her, yet, other than watching her fight, it was the only time he was able to experience the true flame that burnt so ferociously inside of her. She rarely let herself go, rarely revealed her true emotions to the world, but with him, he knew she had that capability. They shared a sense of each other, and it bonded them in an unbreakable fashion.

"I'm sorry I upset you." It was all he could think to say. "But please understand how much you mean to me. I couldn't bear to let you go, Trin."

"Never mind me." She shuddered against him, and let out a small whimper.

"Trin, please tell me what's up?" he was reduced to pleading with her. Anything to stabilise the wreck he saw infront of him. It shook him to see her this way. "We had to save ourselves, you know that. He was just a coppertop, and he was way to old to ever be freed either."

"No, Neo. That's what you don't get." She stepped away from him, shaking of his attempts to draw her back. "He wasn't just a coppertop. Until I escaped the Matrix, that was the man I called Daddy."
