CHAPTER 13 – What Goes Around
"Now, now that's no way to treat your welcoming committee."
With a smirk, Vegeta cocked his head slightly and in a low voice, "Ha ha. I'm the last person you would want to welcome, Cell."
The green and dark blue spotted creature folded his arms then raised one to wave his index finger. "Now I sense displaced anger." Cell sighed and dropped his arms and showed Vegeta his palms. "I'm not the one that put you here. But here you are. Due to our similar circumstances, may I suggest a truce? I was hoping we might put our past differences aside."
"A truce?! You're mental! I could destroy you and every loser in this place. I am the Prince of Saiyans, android! I have no need for your alliance." Vegeta widened his stance and readied to charge Cell. "I'm going to waste you..."
"Wait! You want to get out of here, don't you?"
"HA! If you know the way out, why are you still here?!"
"I...don't know the way..." Vegeta lunged at Cell driving his fist in the creature's stomach. Cell expelled the air from his lungs and fluid sprayed from his mouth. With his free arm, Vegeta drove an elbow down on the back of Cell's head, forcing him down on hands and knees. "Wait (cough)I..." Vegeta He stood over Cell with a ball of ki building in his hand.
"I wait for no one!" The Prince reached to push his energy ball into Cell but then froze. Cell had disappeared. Immediately Vegeta sensed Cell above him and threw the ki. "Damn instant transmission...." The bio-android deflected the attack only to find Vegeta behind the sphere. His punch landed square in Cell's face sending him rocketing toward the yellow cloud ceiling. He charged after, "HERE LET ME SHOW YOU OUT!" Vegeta caught up with the green projectile and snap kicked sending Cell slamming into the hidden barrier beyond. "Oh my, that door seems to be locked. Let's find another!"." He grabbed hold of Cell's ankle and raced to the ground.
"Grrr...Stop! I know who..." Vegeta released his tow and came to a halt. He grinned devilishly as Cell hit the ground, sending debris in every direction. As the dust cleared, Vegeta was able to see the result of his assault. Cell laid face down motionless. The Prince slowly lowered himself to the dirt floor next to the half buried android and planted his hands on his hips.
"Get up, freak! Why don't you fight back? You are making this too easy for me."
After a few moments, Cell began to stir. His head rose slightly. "(Cough) What's the point, Vegeta? After you've been in HFIL as long as I have, you welcome extinction." He pushed himself up and spat. "One way or another I will leave this place." Cell rose to his feet and faced his opponent. He wiped the trace of bile from his lips. "Your increased strength is quite impressive...almost as strong as Goku."
"And how would you know this?"
"He and another paid a little visit a short while ago. You Saiyans are truly astonishing."
"Kakarot! Here?!" Vegeta balled his fist at the creature.
"Ah yes, his Saiyan name. Goku was here...and left. So you see, there is a way, and I have an idea who can tell us."
Crossing his arms, Vegeta suspiciously asked, "Why are you telling me?
Cell cleared his throat and stepped out of his impression in the ground. He spoke as he brushed off himself. "My first attempt was foiled by Goku and another warrior named Pikkon. They are the strongest fighters in this dimension and at the time, I was at a disadvantage."
"You mean they kicked your ass! Ha ha ha..."
"Merely detained, my friend."
Incensed, Vegeta took a step back and extended his right arm towards Cell. His open palm was out as though he were stopping traffic. "Careful how you address me, android."
With a slight bow, Cell attempted to go on. "My mistake, Prince Vegeta. Allow me to continue? I'm sure you will not regret it." The Prince grunted but did not stand down. "From what your colleague has told me, you and Goku are almost equal in strength...except for a small matter of Super Saiyan Three."
It didn't make sense, but Vegeta could come to only one conclusion. "Sen, she's here?"
"Uh, no...I was referring to the wizard Babidee."
"Huh?" First shocked by the absurdity, Vegeta surprisingly found the humor that Cell's statement held. Resting his hands on his hips, his head went back and he forced out a laugh. "Ha ha ha...That disgusting little bugged eyed creature is nothing more than wasted space."
"I thought as much...Ha-hahaha...He said you helped him to attack Goku and revive his monster Majin Buu. Nobody believed it except Frieza." Not realizing that Vegeta had stopped laughing, Cell went on. "Imagine! That little weasel having any influence over the Prince of Saiy... (choke)" Vegeta got a hold of Cell's neck to shut him up.
Glaring at Cell, "No one, hssst!" then Vegeta pushed him away. Turning his back to the creature, the Prince crossed his arms. After regaining his composure, Vegeta turned his head a little and asked over his shoulder, "Get to the point, Cell."
Cell stopped rubbing his neck and took a step towards Vegeta. "With you leading us, Prince Vegeta, we could take over HFIL and make our escape."
"You fool. What will you do when you escape? You're dead."
"I'm not interested in the Living World. If what Babidee says is true of this Buu creature, it will soon be destroyed. anyway. Of course, they will send the strongest warriors alive and dead to stop him. One by one they will fall. That leaves the Afterworld, the World of the Kia's and..." Cell leaned towards Vegeta until he was centimeters away to whisper, "us" then stood back to watch the Saiyan's reaction.
The hair on the back of Vegeta's neck started to rise as he comprehended the magnitude of Cell's plan. He stared at the ground for a moment then murmured, "To live as Gods..."
An evil smile appeared on Cell's face. "Exactly. Prince Vegeta, the strongest who stands above and conquers all. You will be the supreme ruler of paradise."
"Nice fantasy, but there's one flaw. Majin Buu."
"Simple, Babidee will put him back in his ball."
Vegeta's mind raced with the possibilities. Finally, to claim his true birthright of royalty; to conquer and rule the ultimate domain. His enemies would become his servants. Those with authority in this dimension would answer to him. Every whim, every desire filled. Bulma. He would make her queen, no...goddess. His son Trunks would be the Prince of Gods. He smiled to himself.
"Now where "Where does this leave you, Cell?"
"You are a Saiyan warrior first, Vegeta. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Just look to me as a form of entertainment."
Vegeta turned around to face his advisory. "Ha! You have thought this out quite thoroughly. I'm impressed. When you're not trying to defeat me, maybe you should double as my the royal advisor."
Again, Cell bowed to the Prince. "An excellent idea, your Majesty. So, you will join us?"
"You mean, lead you...I heard your proposal. Now leave me, I wish to be alone."
"Certainly, I will prepare the others for your arrival." Cell turned and was ready to take to the air but stopped when he caught Vegeta's last request.
"Who will pledge their allegiance?"
"Only Babidee knows of my...er...our plan."
"Tell no one of my coming."
Nodding with a smirk, Cell took off and raced to where Vegeta could sense the others.
Vegeta allowed himself to fill with renewed hope. Things were definitely looking up. He shot up and stopped to get his bearings. With his keen eyesight, he was able to make out Doolb Lake and gardens. Further, he spied the official entrance hall. A steady stream of fluffy clouds migrated in the area but no where near as many as above. In the opposite direction was the desert, spiked boulders, yet further; cliffs and black steeple like mountains.
Vegeta's first thought was what any sane individual would do and that was to check in at the hall...Yama could be looking for him. But now he wanted solitude. He needed time to get his thoughts together. He smirked. Another trait hard learned from his onna. "I must be getting old."
Lowering his ki so as not to be detected, Vegeta flew for some distance. When he found a suitable spot, he lowered himself to the ground. With one sweep of his arm, his ki blew the dust and dirt from the slab of rock he had found. The Prince made himself comfortable; lying on his back with one hand behind his head.
Staring at the yellow clouds, Vegeta's first thought was of Kakarot. 'What is that clown up to?' He focused his feelings and tried to sense the Saiyan. Nothing. It was no use. He hated not knowing what was happening. That monster Majin Buu was nothing like he ever encountered before. To rely on two children to defeat the freak was preposterous. If Kakarot is made to leave the living there will be no hope left for Earth.
"Genocide." Why did he care? Earthlings are weak and useless. Closing his eyes, he was able to see the people he had come accustomed to. Maybe his opinion needed to be revaluated. He had seen amazing feats accomplished by even the smallest of Earth's inhabitants. For over ten years he had made the planet his home...more or less. It was appalling place to train. The place was void of any challenge. But its beauty was almost incomprehensible to the Saiyan Prince. 'To see those blue skies again...'
Suddenly Vegeta found himself racing across the ocean, so close to the water, he could feel the spray of sea water hit his face. The glare from the water's reflections raced by and made him squint. The crisp salt air filled his senses. Ahead, land raced up to meet him. Cliffs filled with life rose up from the breaking waves. Stopping suddenly at the cliff's base, the Prince allowed the ocean's rage against the rocks to drench his body. Flaring his ki, he rocketed upwards, scattering the fowl from their cliff side nests. Over land, he saw a blanket of lush green vegetation. It reached far to the snow covered mountains. He was free for the first time in his life. A life that was given back to him after Frieza had taken it. What do you do with a second chance?
To stop, he opened his eyes. "Is this what you fight for?" That part of his past was useless to him and the yearning made his chest hurt. "Kakarot, what would you do if you were me? Ha ha ha I know what you wouldn't do." Then Vegeta thought he felt something. Like a great energy spanning across universes, filtering down; and sprinkling traces in the Afterworlds. It was there momentarily, then gone. 'Curse your pathetic low class Saiyan ass. You hid your true power from me. Now I'm dead because of you.'
The long familiar resentment towards Kakarot took hold. Vegeta's fist slammed down on the rock causing it to crack in two. Standing, he worked to control his anger. His fists shook from the tremor of power that coursed through his veins. Through clenched teeth he whispered, "Why should a Prince trail the likes of you only to find comfort in your shadow?" Then he yelled, "AAAAHH!!" and Vegeta's ki burst forth surrounding him in a fire like aura. His eyes went green and his hair a fiery gold. Streams of electricity crackled around him. "No! Not this time Kakarot!"
The Prince pushed out his ki, causing his aura to explode outwards. The rock disintegrated below, leaving a large crater. Floating above the demolition, a devious grin appeared on his face. Vegeta cracked his knuckles and stretched his neck. "Well, I am not through yet, Kakarot." Crouching he yelled. "LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!" And, like a light, he shot away, following the same path as Cell's.
"Now, now that's no way to treat your welcoming committee."
