Summary: "This is what will happen." Trip can't see the future, but Daniels can.
Etc.: The prayer of St. Francis, in case you're wondering is 'God, give me strength to accept those things I cannot change'. I thought it was fitting for Daniels.
----------------------
This is what will happen:
Jon will begin to lose his mind three years and five months before he stops breathing.
he'll never forgive him
T'Pol will forget that she was ever clean and become an addict again.
he'll stop loving her long before this
Travis will die in an explosion.
he'll come to the conclusion that he never knew him enough to care
Hoshi will never recover from her torture and Travis's death.
he'll never understand what she felt and, like with Travis, he'll never really care
Phlox will leave and he will never come back.
he'll wonder if he should see this as a bad thing
Malcolm, after the others are all gone, will ask for a dance because that's all Malcolm will have the strength to do. Then he will disappear.
he'll say yes and dance him on and on, because that's what friends will do
But, right now, Trip knows nothing of this. Trip doesn't know that Jon will go crazy or that he will stop loving T'Pol and realize he never really loved her in the first place. Trip doesn't know that he never really knew Travis and that he never really cared about Hoshi. Trip doesn't know that Phlox will leave. Trip doesn't know that on the night before he dies he will dance with Malcolm and they will laugh and they will cry and they will promise to be friends for ever. Trip doesn't know that that was a lie.
Trip doesn't know that he will be the last to die.
He doesn't know these things.
But Daniels does.
And he can't do a thing about it.
