An Unexpected Surprise
Hikaru plopped down on the red-and-white checkered picnic blanket, and beamed up at her two friends. Fuu kindly smiled back, but Umi was too busy stuffing her mouth full of rice cakes and sushi rolls. Hikaru quickly joined her. Fuu shook her head at them, and daintily fingered her cup. Suddenly, Umi sat straight up, and looked toward the sky, food bits still stuck to her cheeks.
"What is it Umi?" Fuu asked inquiringly.
"I fawp I sfemst..." she stopped herself, and swallowed. "I thought I sensed something." She replied thoughtfully. By this time, Hikaru was scanning the clouds above them as well.
"I don't see anything," she said naïvely. Umi whacked her on the head with the picnic basket.
"Of course you don't you dolt! I sensed it not saw it!" she sighed, "Besides, there's nothing there. Let's just relish our day off." Fuu nodded furiously.
"It's not often we get to just sit down and enjoy ourselves! Let's try to-"
Suddenly there was huge CRASH very close by, followed by a succession of snapping tree branches and twigs. Hikaru jumped up, suddenly holding her sword, ready for a battle. Umi put a hand on her weapon and glanced around. Fuu simply stayed seated calmly.
"I don't think we'll need to fight." She told them matter-of-factly. "That didn't sound like an attack. It was more like..." her face scrunched curiously.
"Like somebody falling." Umi finished for her, standing. Fuu nodded. Curious, they all followed where the sound had come from, and reached a small area of about four trees. Staring abashed, they just stood for several seconds.
There, lying tangled in a bed of snapped branches and fallen leaves, was a girl, around their age. She had cropped, boyish-cut, black hair that glittered in the starting sunset. She appeared pretty tall, about Umi's height, and she wore a school uniform the three had not seen where they were from; it was a gray skirt about knee length, with blue stripes every inch or so, a white shirt adorned with the same designed bow as the skirt. She had small cuts and scrapes on her arms and legs, obviously from the trees, but she also carried a few bruises and more than a couple subtle scars. The trio guessed she had had her own share of fights.
Hikaru was the first to come-to. She walked up to the trees holding the girl, and listened closely. There was a small, short intake of breath every now and again, followed by an even smaller, shorter exhale. But she was alive. Umi walked to Hikaru's side.
"What are we gonna do with her?" she queried. Hikaru shrugged.
"I dunno." She responded. "We've gotta take her in I guess... Wake her up, figure out her name and what she's doing here-" Fuu suddenly cut in.
"Isn't it obvious? She is a Legendary Magic Knight, too!" Hikaru gaped, Umi's eyes widened. Then unexpectedly, a voice they'd known since they first arrived, spoke up from behind them.
"Very good, Fuu, yes, Audrey Kuro is one of you."
"What?!" Hikaru and Umi cried in unison.
Hey, hey, hey! How'd you like it so far? I will continue it in a day
or so, but not now. So, for the time being PLEASE review!!!
