Hawkgirl returns

Chapter one: The Return.

Shayera Hol was flying through space and nearing her home planet, Thanagar. She slowly flew towards the planet, still thinking about Earth... and John Stewart. Finding where her home was, she started to land. But she heard some shots and some projectiles flew toward her. She dodged most, but a few small ones hit her. Looking down, Shayera saw Hro Talak and heard him saying:

"TRAITOR! GET BACK HERE!"

Now, full of anger, she thought that she doesn't want to live on Thanagar anymore and remembered a certain Green Lantern. So, she left Thanagar and found a space cargo ship. She stopped it.

"Hello. Where is your destination?"

"I'm heading for Oa." said the driver of the ship.

"Can you take me there?"

"Yes but it will be a rough ride on this ship."

"It doesn't matter. Hop aboard."

Shayera hopped in and held on to a pipe in the ship. The long flight to Oa lasted almost 2 days but she got there. Once near the spaceport, she saw a familiar face.

"Kilowog?"

"Hawkgirl?"

"Hello. Can you please tell me where can I stay for a night?"

"You can stay at my place. Anything for my friend's friend. But what are you doing here?"

"I came back from Thanagar, heading to Earth. Now I know that Earth is the planet where I should live."

"If you're interested, a ship leaves tomorrow afternoon that will go through the Earth's solar system. You can go there."

"Thanks, Kilowog."

That night, Hawkgirl slept at Kilowog's place and the next day she prepared for the journey back to Earth. Going to the spaceport, she found the cargo ship Kilowog was talking about.

"Hello sir. May I go with you to a certain solar system?"

"Sure. Show me where. Here's the map."

Hawkgirl looked at the map and she saw some Green Lantern marks. So, she searched for John Stewart's name and found it. Then she saw Earth at coordinates HF-55.

"Can you take me to HF-55?"

"That's a sector I'm crossing in my way. Hop aboard."

"Thanks." said Hawkgirl as she entered the ship.

Then the long road started. She saw War World, now in prosperity and then 3 more days followed. She thought it was a wonder she even managed to stay awake that much.

"Well, here we are. HF-55."

"Thank you."

Then, as the spaceship left, Hawkgirl started to go to the Earth. Looking around the planet,  she was surprised. No Watchtower. Then she slowly went down, avoiding any burns because of the air and stopped above the Pacific. Then she headed northeast, to Gotham. Soon, she saw Central City and flew over it.

Meanwhile…

A man was gardening in his balcony in Central City. He called some one with his mobile phone.

"Hey Flash, John Stewart here. I thought to visit Bruce tomorrow. What do you say?"

"GL, I'll try to come. Excuse me if I'll be late."

"Silly joke, Flash. Goodnight.

"Goodnight, GL!"

John, still gardening, was looking for the moment at the night's sky. Then he remembered. It was a month from when Shayera Hol left to Thanagar. Then, he saw a large bird. As it came closer, he could see that this was very large. He thought : "Could it be Shay?" as he ran for his ring and binoculars. Grabbing them, he put his ring on his finger and started looking. His jaw dropped. He suddenly saw Shayera, but she didn't see him. He then used his ring to form the Green Lantern Emblem, halfway between them.

In Hawkgirl's point of view:

She saw the emblem. When she saw where it came from, she started flying faster and saw John Stewart in his balcony, with a smile on his face. She smiled.

"John!"

"Shayera!"
