Draco opened his eyes to find Vincent, Gregory, Blaise, Pansy and....Harry
standing over him. His brain pounded behind his eyes as he shook his head.
His vision was slightly blurred, but he thought Harry looked concerned. And
then the kiss came rushing back to him, and his head pounded so hard he
thought it would burst out of his skull.
Vincent pulled him to his feet and Draco shut his eyes, hoping that when he opened them, the entire Great Hall wouldn't be staring at him any more. No such luck. Every member of all the house tables was gawking, and many had gotten out of their seats to see what had happened. Many were snickering, but the Slytherins looked positively livid. Whether it was because they were mad at Draco or Ron, Draco couldn't tell, but he had a feeling that either way, he wouldn't be hearing the end of this incident any time soon.
"Out of my way, Weasley! Finnigan!" huffed McGonagall as she bustled from the High Table.
"What exactly has happened here, Malfoy?"
Draco smirked, "I'm not sure, Professor. Last thing I remember, Weasley was lunging towards my face with one of his overly-large fists." Various Slytherins sniggered.
"Thank you for your retelling. Potter, what happened?"
Harry blushed profusely, "Well, yeah, basically. Ron did," he lowered his voice considerably, "punch him..."
"That will be sufficient. Weasley, you will be serving detention with Mr. Filch this evening at 7:00pm. As for you, Malfoy, you've gotten off this time, but if you provoke anyone in my house again, you will be sure to see the consequences."
There was a chorus of "oooohs" as McGonagall strode back to the High Table.
"Harry!" Ron whispered frantically, "What was that! You couldn't even lie for me? You deserve Malfoy!"
Hermione left the hall to follow Ron, "You did the right thing, Harry. I'll talk to him."
"Thanks, 'Mione," Harry sighed. Malfoy's St. Ottoman's Day prank had turned out to have more consequences than he had anticipated. Somehow, though, Harry couldn't bring himself to feel too badly about it.
A/N: Had to get this out before I continue with the story. I'm going to do the rest in one shot so I can't weasel my out of it between chapters. Please forgive the length of this prologue! I thought that it would perhaps entice you to read the rest of the story when it's out. Until then, please check out my other works. :D
