Chapter One . . . . .

-----------------------------

It was dark. Unusually dark. The kind of darkness you would expect to find in

an air tight celler, except this was worse. Another step, another chance of death.

When would he get out of here? Something wasn't right about this place, and he

couldn't help but feel like he was being watched.

Another step. The decaying leaves beneath his feet cracked loudly as he

came ever closer to his impending doom. Not a sound could be heard but his own

footsteps.

His eyes were wide open, but he could see nothing. 'How did I get here

anyway?' he thought over and over again. Serge had no recollection of ever coming

upon those grounds.

Yes, Serge was his name. He began to remember...A lowly fisherman from

Arni Village. Ever since his love, Leena had been murdered, ten years ago, he had

lost all faith in life. He lived for one thing, revenge. His eyes narrowed as it started

coming back to him. He was there for him. That man...that creature who murdered

Leena. He was there for revenge.

He gripped the dagger hanging lightly at his side roughly, took another deep

breath, and broke into a run, ever moving forward, seeking only vengance.

Serge stopped abruptly as a strong gust of wind blew against him. The trees

around him shook madly and it was all he could do to stand his ground.

Then he saw it ... the luminous orange orbs... lurking silently ahead of him.

Coming towards him, taunting him. It was time. This was the moment he had been

waiting for all these years. He could avenge his love, and take back his stolen

pride. . . but why couldn't he move. . ?

He struggled to bring up his dagger, but his arm was pinned to his side. To

flee was no longer an option. All he could do was stand there, watching those eyes

watch him. . .

With no warning whatsoever, the sky lit up with a red light and his heart sunk,

as he finally saw him. . . those eyes . . . that smirk . . . it was just like that night, ten

years ago. . .

Serge cried out as he tried to lunge, only to meet the force of his foe's magic,

which pushed him up against a large redwood tree. He faced his beastly rival, as he

slithered ever closer to him.

He was inches away from him. He could feel his hot breath on his face, but he

could do nothing but watch and wait.

The beast grinned wildly, raising his mighty claw above his head. Serge cried

out as the claw came down on him.

Serge awoke in a cold sweat, screaming. He gripped his pillow tightly as he

recollected himself. This was the fourth time he'd had this dream. . .
