It was a cold, dark night, once again full moon. Lily Evans was franticly searching for Remus Lupin. This was the third time in three months she could not find him. They had made a date to celebrate her birthday at The Three Broomsticks. If he was out again with James Potter and Sirius Black and forgot the time like the last two times then she would have to dump him. She really did like him, but she did not like his best friends James and Sirius. She always felt second best when they were around. It was as if they were Remus's girlfriends, not her. At that moment the shrieks from the Shrieking Shack grew even louder. She really wished Dumbledore would drive the ghosts out of there. They always gave her horrible headaches.
Finally she gave up her search and stormed up to her dormitory. Remus would have hell to pay in the morning, especially if he had been with James and Sirius.
Meanwhile Sirius, James, and Peter Petigrew in their animagus forms were trashing the Shrieking Shack with the werewolf form of Remus. Finally the full moon was over. They all changed into their original forms. Remus was glad it was over, but dreaded explaining to Lily where he had been and why he had missed her birthday dinner. He couldn't tell her the truth, because he doubted she would want to continue dating a werewolf. He also couldn't tell her he had forgotten the time while with Sirius and James. He had used that excuse twice already, and it sounded so heartless and uncaring. Oh well, he could sleep on it and come up with something in the morning. He followed Sirius, James, and Peter up to their dormitory and went right to sleep.
