Here's another start to a year at Degrassi, I thought to myself. I know last year was a little intense after what happened with me and Craig. Our little "love triangle". Let's not go into much detail. I stood on the steps in front of Degrassi after two long summer months.
"Can life get any better than this?" I said, unaware that I wasn't exactly alone.
"Uh yeah!" said an unfamiliar voice behind me.
"Oh! You scared me, I was talking to myself", I replied realizing that the girl was Ashley Kerwin from grade 10.
"What's up Manny? How was your summer?" Ashley asked. O.M.G! Why was Ashley talking to me after that big fling with Craig last year? Maybe life did get a little bit better.
"Uh, hey Ashley! I didn't recognize you. Why the changes? Last year you were Ms.Gloom-and-Doom." She was wearing the cutest hip huggers and pink tubie. How did she pull this off? She looked better than me! I couldn't resist mentioning it. "I love your outfit", I commented.
"Oh this? Thanks", she said.

Wow, that was a big day. I couldn't think of a better first day of school. Where was Emma? I haven't talked to her all day. Did she move already.
-dial tone-
"Hello, Simpson/Nelson residence", Emma said on the other line.
"Hey Em! Where were you today? You know this was the first day of grade 9! You won't believe this, Sean and Amy hooked up...", I started.
"Was today the first day of grade 9 already? I thought school started next week! I can't believe I missed the first day of High School", she interrupted.
"Well, you didn't miss much except the fact that everyone was sooo nice!"
"Really?"
"Yeah. Even Ashley spoke to me. I thought she hated me. You owe me $20." I remembered the bet Emma had composed late last school year.
"Well I have to go. Jack's crying, see you tomorrow", Em yelled.
"Okay, okay, see ya", I said and then hung up. I thought about my new classes and everything that happened.

Sorry for such a short chapter. This is my first time writing anything on fanfiction.net. Please review and leave any ideas you have for the next chapter. I mean, you never know, I might start writing some more intense stuff.
