Sam walked into the lounge room and smiled at the sight before her. Her twins Brendan and Layla were still curled up asleep on the sofa with the dvd they had been watching sitting at the menu stage waiting to be stopped or played again. She stood watching them unable to take her eyes of the precious gifts she had been given.
They both had her fair hair and skin. Layla was as curious as her mother and was forever wanting the technical side of something explained to her. Brendan was very shy, a trait neither of them really had, but he had his daddy's grin that never failed to melt a heart. Both of them had his eyes, the dark brown that would almost grow black if an emotion was strong enough.
They were four years old now, it seemed like yesterday that she had sat Jack down on the bed in their house and told him she was pregnant. He had sat in silence for a few seconds before crushing her with a bear hug. They had only been married for eight months but it seemed that after nearly a decade of denying what was between them, things moving a little fast was no problem.
Sam still marveled at the way their small faces seemed nothing short of perfect, even more when they slept. Layla stirred clutching her small teddy closer to her chest as Sam made her way over to the stereo. The soft music began to sound as she cleaned up the various toys around the room. The CD was well worn, when Sam had picked it up she used to play a few tracks over and over again. When Layla and Brendan came along the CD always started at one particular song. Sam began to sing softly as the deep haunting voice sounded through out the room from the stereo.

As the song ended Sam felt a set of eyes watching her from across the room.
"You know you are going to wear the cd out." Jack said coming into the room.
"That's why I have three copies." Sam replied grinning.
"You always were the prepared one."
Jack moved to her, encircling his wife in his arms, deeply breathing in the scent of her hair.
"Look at them Jack." Sam said into his chest.
"They are a lot nicer when they are sleeping. Much more quiet." Jack said, Sam leaned back and swatted him lightly on the arm. Jack grinned back.
"They are perfect aren't they?" Jack said moving over to where his children lay still fast asleep.
"Better than I could have ever imagined." Sam replied softly.
