It was the day before the Weasly family had to go to platform 9 ¾ and Ginny Weasly stared in her mirror in her small room at The Burrow. She hadn't eaten anything all day-in fact she hadn't eaten anything for quite sometime. Other than the occasional piece of fruit Ginny was starving herself.
It all started towards the end of her fourth year. She wasn't sure why she chose to starve herself; she only knew that it was the only thing she had left. When she thought about how Harry would never love her, when she thought about how she had no particular talents or when she thought about how she wasn't stunningly beautiful like so many other girls in her year, she ALWAYS knew that she had Ana. Ana was her best friend, her worst enemy. Ana was her angel, her release, her beauty. No mater what happened she could not, she would not betray Ana. Ana had never betrayed her. Ana had lead Ginny to loose 10 pounds in two weeks, Ana would help her to loose 10 more. Ana would make her beautiful enough for Harry. If anyone could help her it was Ana.
The nerve, those self righteous "doctors" had to call Ana a disease. Ana was anything but a disease, she was a savior. During the fourth week of Ginny's summer holidays Mrs. Weasly became concerned about Ginnys sudden lose of weight. She started subtly mentioning to Ginny things like "oh Ginny, I heard that a third year at Hogwarts was diagnosed with anorexia, what a silly thing! I mean I know that you would never do something as silly as starve yourself!" these comments made Ginny want to slap her mother. The nerve of the woman! Thinking she knew about Ana, thinking Ana could ever be a bad thing was simply out of the question.
Ginny continued to stare into the mirror. "discussing.", Ginny muttered, "how can I have lost 10 pounds and still look this repulsive. No. I need to lose at least 10 more." Ginny plucked at her thighs and then turned away from her mirror to lie in her bed. "I need to restrict more." She thought, "I can only eat 500 calories per day, that should put me at my goal weight of 110…" Ginny, being '5"7 weighted 125 pounds and was quite lanky, but that's not how Ginny saw herself. "Oh well, I'll just need to work harder." She mumbled. Then she rolled over and drifted off to sleep, dreaming of Harry loving her, dreaming of being thin.
The next morning Ginny woke with a hollow empty feeling in her stomach. This feeling made her very happy. "Pure." She thought with a satisfying smile. "Pure from all that gross, fattening food." Ginny started going about her room and collecting her things that she would need for her fifth year at Hogwarts. "Lets see…I've got my robes, uniform, shoes…" she had been mid thought when Ron burst into her room
"Gin, time for breakfast." He said before he dashed out of her room and threw himself down the stairs.
"Mum!" she cried down the stairs, "I'm running behind on packing and I still have to get ready so don't set a place for me at breakfast."
"Right dear…Fred! Fred, Stop throwing eggs at your brother!" she heard her mother say.
"Well, that was easy." Ginny thought as she closed her trunk with a snap.
