Review and if you guys think that there could be a story behind all this, who knows where it'll lead.
State of minds
She cried as the sun began setting and she was on her way back home. Her senior year was over and life was turning to normal. She had loved, she had broken promises, but now it was over. She shouldn't have fallen in love in the first place. She had promised to herself to always remember that love was just a state of mind, a feeling that deceived and lied. And yet she had fallen in love and she had paid her price for it. She looked at the horizon, seeing the see. The water seemed red, the sky was yellow. The night was about to begin and then she would unleash her feelings to the stars and the moon. A red June sky was her last memory of a vividly spring. A spring that started somewhere in March, a lifetime had gone by and she would remember it with gratitude and pain. She was about to set back in the world, away from the arms of safety, she was thrown into the arms of a hot summer. A summer that perhaps would fade out her pain.
She stared out or the train as the last glimpse of sunshine disappeared behind the hills. She was in-between water and earth. The red sky turned into a dark blue and the light of the moon crept though the curtains inside. She sighed; she was alone on this journey home. Her friends were asleep, they felt for her, but they couldn't ease the pain. She was just 17, she was no more a girl, but she didn't feel like a woman. A smile appeared onto her face as she remembered a song. An old song, but nonetheless a song that she could relate too.
I used to think/I had the answers to everything/But now I know/Life doesn't always go my way../Feels like I'm caught in the middle/That's when I realise../There's no need to protect me/Its time that I/learn to face up to this on my own/I've seen so much more than you know now/Don't tell me to shut my eyes/Don't tell me what to believe.
In the corner she saw her friends sleep. Her three best mates. One girl, two boys. She sighed and looked at them. They were all she had, all she knew, for now at least. She turned back to the window, gazing outside. She looked into the window and saw a reflection of herself. Dark auburn curly hair. Eyes that had seen more than people could've thought. Eyes that had cried, that had blazed and had lightened up a life. Her eyes weren't shining any longer. She was feeling weary, but tonight she wanted to close of that period. If you can't fight it, then feel it. Her mind drifted back to where it began. She needed those grey stormy eyes, the strong arms that had held her tight in the long nights. They had known the risks when they started together. She had promised him to stay strong and so she will. Tonight was the night that things would be closed off. And tonight it will be. He was with her, he was gone, but his ashes remained. She looked to the urn next to her. Her hand moved to the window and she opened it. A breeze brought chills to her arms. Ashes to ashes. And she let the last thing of her love fly away with the wind. She would be strong, he would be remembered, she had their memories and she would succeed in their dreams. She smiled as the train moved to home and she smiled because she could let go.
It's funny how things work out/The ones we need don't know we're there/If I were sand and you were oceans/The moon would be why you're pulled to me/I wake up and think dreams are real/I sleep so i don't have to feel/The truth that you can't ever be/The one person that won't ever forget me/I hope that dreams come when i die/So we can talk, I won't wake up/I'll ask you how your life worked out/I'll never know that I'm just dreaming
