Disclaimer: no, I am NOT JKR. And I do not own anything, sadly.
Er. . . I got the general idea from Kaori Yuki's manga "Kain" by the general idea, I mean the 'shadow outlining the light' [ she phrased it differently. I paraphrased] but how I related it to Severus is mine.
PLEASE READ AND REVIEW!
LIKE ANY OTHER MAN
Nobody saw the great bat at night.
Some say he disappears to join in the Dark Revel.
But, he does not. . . always. He sleeps like any man and waits for the kiss of sweet sunlight to wake him from this temporary trance. He does not give in to the allure of the veiled night, or the vague twilight. He does not wander the corridors so much.
He sleeps like any other man.
And wakes at the break of the silent dawn that creeps up and around us. Sleep releases him from sweet embrace, and Life kisses him, and the dawn accepts him like a newborn child.
He dawns his regal clothes, taking the form of the great black shadow that wakes not from gentle slumber, and makes him separate from others. . . as the night is divided from day. The Shadow, we will call him, as his attire belies him to be. He is the outcast, immortal in this guise as forever shadows are. He is the shadow.
He is a man.
The Shadow that does not seem to posses the ability to love and caress as his hands are stained forever with dried blood, his eyes blank like a mirror, his heart beatless and still as the silence that can not be rent. But he is. .. a man.
He loves the dawn that embraces him like a mother of a lost child. He loves the dawn when he is not judges to be what others needed him to become, the antagonist to make the heroes. . . the Shadow to outline the light.
But, the dawn that he loved also loved another. Quiet as the silent waking wind, she comes to see the rising of the Sun. . . and the fall of night. . . and the man behind his shadow.
