She escaped her high school, and made it to the other high school as fast as she could. The cool air brushed against her face. ~* this could be my last fall *~ Running down the 2nd floor hallway, she knocked on the door.
"Can I speak with Daire?" Kiana asked and the student called for him. Daire came out and shut the door.
"Kiana, what's wrong?" his face was filled with concern. Kiana reached for him, her scarf unfolding. Daire pulled her into a tight embrace.
"Tell me what's wrong." Kiana pulled back and brushed his cheek with the back of her hand. Daire could have sworn he saw fear in her eyes.
"I love you so much; I could never live without you."
"I'm not going anywhere."
Kiana reached into her pocket and slid a letter into Daire pocket.
"You're not going anywhere either." Daire leaned Kiana against the wall and kissed her deeply. His hands cupped around her face. He fingers brushed his stubble.
They pulled away taking a deep breath in.
"I never want you to leave." Kiana's eyes glistened.
Daire searched her face," What are you trying to tell me?"
Kiana bit her lip. Footsteps were heard running down the hallway.
"Back away now." A deep voice spoke. Neither moved, nor looked away from each other. Shots were fired. Kiana pushed Daire to the wall, her back exposed to the hallway.
"NO!" Daire yelled. The bullet phased into Kiana's body, never breaking the skin. Kiana's head fell back and she gasped as it pulled through her. Her grip loosened on Daire's shoulders, Daire held onto her, and phased through the floor.
"Kiana, why?" Daire's eye watered.
"Because...I love...you..."

~* They didn't know you were a mutant Kiana, it was my burden they knew, not yours*~
