Lexa Pierce was in her room, thinking about Jesse.
he was so close to being gone forever... how come I'm so cold towards
him?
"Knock, knock." Kilmartin peered around Lexa's doorframe.
"Oh, come in."
Jesse looked around the room as he slowly stepped in. Her walls had
a few pieces of art. All of which were aggressive and harsh. Lexa was
never one to wade around in meaningless ideals. Meaningless anything's
for that matter.
"Whatcha up to?" The blonde continued to examine her living space.
"Just having some down time."
"Oh really," Jesse looked at her unruffled bed. Lexa just sighed and
stood up to leave the room.
"Lexa, what did I do?" His ice blue eyes pierced her chocolate ones.
Lexa breathed out, looking to the floor.
"You didn't do anything Jess..." He stepped toward her, only within a
few inches of her now.
"Then why is it you can't look me in the eyes, or even stand close to
me?" Lexa bowed her head, and tried to look away.
"Jesse-"
"Tell me what it is Lexa. I need to know what it is that makes you
so afraid to be near me. Just tell me." He was so close to her, she
could feel the heat of his body. Through his white shirt she could see
the scar left behind because of a scientist's lack of courage.
Lexa still couldn't bring herself to look his eyes. The eyes of the
man, who melts her ice heart, the eyes of a man who is figuring her out,
the eyes of the man she loves.
Jesse lifted her chin.
"Look at me..." He whispered gentle. Lexa did what she was told, and
focused on his face. Tears started coming to her eyes, her breathing
became uneven. Looking in his eyes, Jesse's icy, pure eyes she couldn't
lie to him couldn't hide from their truthfulness.
Jesse wrapped his arms around her waist. Her arms found his neck and
held to him, hiding her tear streaked face in his shoulder.
"Jesse...I...love you..." She whispered to him.
Stroking her hair to comfort her, he closed his eyes. That was what
she needed, the truth. Right at that moment there was a large pulsing
of the floor, and the power went out.
