The Adventures of Emily Brown

By: EmmaOfSweden

Disclaimer: I don't own Pirates of the Caribbean, if I did, I wouldn't be writing fan fiction, right? ;)But I really wish I owned Orlando Bloom... ;)

Summary: Emily runs away from home to be free from her father and the emptiness after her mother, but what happens when she meets a certain blacksmith? Read and find out! First Fanfic. ( I know that the title suck, but I couldn't think of any and it felt bad to put up a story without name...)

Prologue

The night was cool and quiet. A soft breeze came in from the sea. The big, beautiful house was dark and quiet, its inhabitants sleeping peacefully. In the kitchen a cat was chasing a mouse. As the mouse escaped through a hole in the wall, a door on the second floor was opened. A black figure came out, looking carefully up and down the passage. When nothing moved she stepped out and carefully shut the door. She started to tip-toe to the dark stairs which led to the kitchen. Every now and then she stopped, and listened, but everyone kept sleeping, dreaming peaceful dreams. Half-way through the hallway she stopped in front of a portrait of a beautiful woman. She looked at it for a minute, wanting to remember every detail of her face: the elegant noce, the big, blue eyes and smiling lips. The blonde hair was in an elegant bun on her head, with a single curl put behind the left ear. The girl took a last look at the portrait and then she softly whispered

"Good-bye mother."

and continued to the stairs, down to the first floor and the servants passage. She walked slowly to the kitchen door, when the floor made a sound. Her heart immediatly moved to somewhere in her throath, but luckily all the servants slept heavy from a day of hard work. When her heart started to beat normal, in its proper place, she continued to the kitchen door. The kitchen was very dark, so she lit a candle to help her se. Suddenly, the cat jumped up at the big, wooden table in the middle of the kitchen. The girl jumped, startled, and almost dropped the candle, before she saw that it only was the kitchen-cat. The cat looked condesceding at her as she opened a cupboard in a corner and took out a bundle with food, some cloths and other things she hoped would be useful. With the bundle in her right hand she stepped out in the cool night, leaving her old life behind the door. She stood there for a moment, as flashes of her life went through her head. She smiled a sad smile, realizing that she was leaving everything she knew behind, both good and bad. Then she looked up one last time at her house, wawed to it, and started to walk in direction of the harbour. Soon she was absorbed by the dark.
