*A/N* Another round of Thank You's to all the great reviewers. This chapter will have some ups and downs so it will be very dramatic as TNT says though Charmed is drama (smile). Sorry for the delay but do to real life I have not been able to write but I hope this chap. makes up for it.
William did not like the terms nor did he like the way Elder Matthew was acting but for the sake of Brenna's life and soul, he had agreed He got back just as Brenna and Cassandra walked down stairs with her suitcase.
"How'd it go?" Cassandra asked.
"I have good news and bad news." William said, "The good news is that they have agreed to help, the bad news is that she can't have contact with you and she will be trained at first with someone else." He added purposely leaving out that it was Cole Turner a.k.a. Balthazor.
"What, they cannot bar me from seeing my own daughter and if 'they' are not training her, who is?" Cassandra said fuming.
"They can and they have, I don't like this anymore than you Cass but, for the sake of Brenna's future we have too and I'm not sure, I will know when we get there."
"No, if I can't see you guys, I'll take my chances here." Brenna said resolutely.
"Brenna, your father's right but, don't worry, it won't be forever."
"Right, it's only for a little while, they feel that since your mom's a demon, you'll be tempted and even though we know that won't happen, we'll just go along and don't worry I will be in contact at all times."
"Fine but, I don't like it."
"Oh, honey," Cassandra, said hugging her "none of us like it but, it is for the best and in no time at all we'll all be together."
"I hate to rush but, we must go." William said with sadness.
"Alright, you guys be safe and Brenna remember I love you and I will see you soon."
"I love you too mom and I promise I will be good." Brenna said crying while she held her mom.
"I know you will darling." Cassandra stated hugging her and William goodbye.
"I'll be home soon Cass." William said orbing him and Brenna to San Francisco.
THE PENTHOUSE
Cole had just finished cleaning up the penthouse and it looked like it usually did but, it did not have Phoebe. He knew he had to win her back, she was his heart, his soul, his life and without her, nothing meant anything to him anymore. It helped some that he knew she still loved him, but it would take a lot to get, not only her trust back, but also her sisters. He had also just finished making arrangements with Jackman, Carter and Kline and got his job back and he was also thinking about starting up a pro bono practice to help more people. Just as he had finished the last of the phone calls blue and white orbs appeared "Great, It's probably Paige." he said to no one in particular but, it was two people he had never seen before although the girl looked a little like Piper only with jet black hair.
"Who the hell are you?" Cole asked suspiciously.
"Relax, we're friends, if you will, and it is very important that you help us." William said while Brenna stood beside him excited and nervous at the same time.
"Why should I help you, why not go to the Charmed Ones?"
"Because the Elders sent us to you."
"The Elders, all high and mighty want my help, now that's funny." Cole replied smirking.
"Yes, but honestly it's more me asking than the Elders."
"How so?"
"Brenna, honey, why don't you go out on the balcony and get a look of the city, while I talk to Mr. Turner." William said telling more than asking.
"Ok." She replied going out on the balcony and closing the door on her way out.
"Obviously you know who I am, now who are you?" Cole asked.
"My name is William and that is my daughter Brenna, and we desperately need your help."
"Well, William, you keep saying that, what exactly do you need help for?"
"As you know by now, I'm a white lighter, well half actually but, I fell out of grace by marrying a demon and…"
"You're the one who married Thena, I thought that was just a rumor."
"Yes and it's not, Brenna is living proof."
"You mean that girl out there is Thena's daughter, which means…"Cole started almost dumbfounded.
"Yes, that's why we need your help, if she is taught well in the side of good, she will be a great asset but, if she turns evil…"
"She'll be the next source."
"Right, and due to her heritage she will be unstoppable."
"Her heritage?" Cole questioned.
"You do know about her mother?"
"Yes, she is the daughter of the old source but, he disowned her because she was a girl, and when she found out what he had done she left the underworld and forsaken everything to do with him." Cole stated in an annoying tone.
"Yes and she is also half white lighter and witch on my side."
"Damn, she would be unstoppable."
"Will you help us then?"
"With what exactly and why not the girls?" Cole asked confused as to why the Elders would pick him to do this.
"Because…" William proceeded to explain.
Brenna stood on the balcony looking at San Francisco, in spite of everything she had to smile, because from this viewpoint she felt like all of San Francisco was laid at her feet, willing to obey her every command. She still couldn't believe this was happening, in truth she had a small wild side but, she was the go to girl, if anyone had a problem or wanted to vent, or just wanted anything they came to her. She was mild mannered, sweet, shy defiantly not demon material. "Hell" she thought to herself "I listen to Celine Dion." again she laughed. She knew if she wanted to get through this she had to laugh or else she would just have a breakdown, here she was in the prime of her life in 'Sin' Francisco, part demon part white lighter/witch and she was going to make the most of it no matter what her future would hold. Her dad explained her powers to her and it still boggled her mind that magic really existed, let alone that she was part of it. She looked at her dad and the other guy talking adamantly and even though no one had told her she was thinking their was more going on then what anyone was telling her but, it wouldn't be too bad if that guy was going to be her trainer cause he was really cute, that thought made her blush "I haven't changed much, here is a life altering experience and I'm checking out the guy who is going to help me go through it but, is it my fault those elder guys picked a hottie." Brenna said to herself as she went back to thinking about all that was about to happen.
"And that's why I can't take her to the Charmed Ones, at least not yet." William finished.
"Whoa, and none of them know?" Cole asked, actually being shocked for the second time in his existence, the first of course was falling for Phoebe.
"No and they can't find out until she is ready, by order of the Elders."
"What are her powers exactly then?"
"Well from me she has inherited orbing and the ability to freeze things and from her mother she inherited shimmering, energy balls, fire balls/flames, electricity bolts and she will have the ability to flame."
"Damn, that girl has got some fire power!" Cole exclaimed.
"You have to remember her mother is part source part phoenix."
"True, although I do have to ask. How do I know this isn't a scheme to get her close to the girls to kill them?"
"I must admit it is suspicious that the Elders chose you, but I love my daughter and I swear on her life as well as mine that this is no scheme."
"Alright, I will help you but, if I ever once feel the girls are threaten by her, I will vanquish you and her both without a second thought."
"I understand and do understand that the same goes for you if I feel you are not in my daughter's best interest."
"Then it's agreed" Cole said shaking William's hand.
"One more thing, do you want to know what your reward for helping us will be?" William asked.
"No, it will be enough giving that girl the opportunity that I never had, to do good instead of evil, and I will do everything in my power to make sure she is never corrupted."
"Then I thank you and owe you but, now we must properly introduce you two." William said not giving Cole a chance to reply and went to bring Brenna in.
"Brenna, this is Cole Turner and he is going to help you learn your powers and be your trainer."
"Hi, Mr. Turner." Brenna said shyly shaking his hand.
"Please call me Cole, I'm a lawyer and hear Mr. Turner all day." Cole said smiling.
"Alright." Brenna said blushing.
"Now, Brenna I want you to listen to Cole and do as he says and I will be checking on you regularly to make sure you are and that everything is going well."
"I will daddy."
"She will be safe, I swear it." Cole added
"Cole, thank you again, you will be rightfully rewarded and Brenna.." he said looking at his daughter "I love you and if you need anything at all, even just a hug from your old man all you have to do is yell and I will be here."
"Ok, I love you to dad and tell mom I love her and already miss her." Brenna said hugging her father and in tears.
"I will baby, I love you so much, be strong." William said as he orbed out with tears in his eyes.
"Bye, daddy, I will." she whispered as his orbs disappeared.
"Well, then…" Cole started not sure what to do "let's get you settled in and if you feel up to it I can take you on a tour of the town and we can grab a bite to eat."
"I'd like that." Brenna said smiling and wiping tears from her eyes.
Matthew watched the scene from above and was pleased "I knew Balthazor would do it but, I am surprise he didn't want to know what was in it for him." if everything went as planned he would as they say kill two birds with one stone.
"Balthazor!" Cassandra yelled "how could they put the life of our daughter in the hands of one of the most notorious demons!"
"I realize he isn't the most ideal choice but, the Elders deemed him worthy enough." William replied.
"I just love this, I'm not aloud any contact at all with her yet, he's training her."
"Cass, I don't like this either but, he has changed, and he fell in love just like another demon I know." William said wrapping his arms around her waist.
"Just answer me one thing Will, do you trust him?"
"Yes, yes I do."
"Then I guess I will to but, I swear if he…"
"Don't worry, he knows the threat."
"Alright then." Cassandra said and leaned into her husband's embrace praying for her daughter.
THREE MONTHS LATER
"Damn it Cole!" Brenna yelled as she picked herself up off the living room after being hit by an energy ball "You went to see Phoebe today didn't you."
"Why!" Cole yelled back,
"Because every time you go and see her, she throws something in your face and you come back pissed."
"Sorry Bren." Cole said defeated.
"It's ok but, keep it out of training, you're the one always telling me not to let my emotions get in the way during training" Brenna said then laughing "though by the time you two get it together I'll have buns of steel."
Cole laughed at that but, got serious again "I just don't know what to do, she says I can't be good and I know I won't be evil again."
"Listen Cole, I know it's hard but hang in there and don't push it, she loves you but, she has to come around on her own terms."
"I know but, it's just so hard."
"I know but don't worry she will come around, call it women's intuition." Brenna said smiling.
"Who am I to argue with that?" Cole laughed.
"No one." Brenna replied laughing as well.
Cole smiled to himself thinking that no matter how down he was, Brenna was there to cheer him up. He thought this was the best thing to happen to either one of them, he could keep a handle on his evil side and knew that he could talk to her about anything and she never judged just listened and told him what she thought about it. She was doing excellent with her training and not only was she getting a handle on her powers but, she had become more of an individual, she had come along why from being the shy, timid girl to being out going and curious. In fact the two had become best friends, something that neither one had ever really had and if he was honest with himself if it wasn't for the fact he loved Phoebe, they would have been more but, his heart and soul belonged to Phoebe. The last three months had gone by without a hitch except for the few hairy situations with demons and the girls, the demons had been easier. They had orbed in one night wanting to know about a demon and seen them training, it just happen that Brenna had been throwing a fire ball at Cole, Piper had tried freezing her but, when that didn't work she was going to blow her up. Cole had managed to stop Piper just in time and then explained that she was his cousin from his mother's side and that her parents had disappeared and Brenna had just come into her powers and that she was good which was why the freeze wouldn't hold. After they had Leo check with the Elders, who corroborated the story, Brenna and the girls had become good friends, in fact Piper had been helping her study of
potions.
"Earth to Cole." Brenna said waving a hand in his face.
"Oh huh."
"I said I've had enough physical torture for the day so I'm heading over to the manor to get my daily dose of mental torture from Piper."
"Ok, just remember no…"
"Orbing in front of them, I know, I know, we go through this every time I go over there." Brenna said annoyed.
"Sorry, I worry ok." Cole said sheepishly.
"I know, well I'm going to shower first then head over there."
"Alright, I'll fix you lunch before you leave."
"Sounds good." Brenna said heading off to her bedroom.
Cole had just walked in the kitchen when William orbed in "Hey, Will, Bren is in the shower, she'll be out in a few.
"Hey yourself, that's fine. Just coming to check up." William said. He had been visiting once a week sometimes twice.
"Great, she's a quick learner." Cole said proudly.
"That is excellent news."
"Dad!" Brenna exclaimed running up and giving him a hug.
"Hi baby, I hear everything is going good."
"Yeah, I'm really learning a lot from Cole." Brenna replied and before any one could react, a dark lighter appeared and shot William in the chest and as quickly as he appeared he was gone.
"Daddy!" Brenna yelled as she kneeled down by him.
"Come on we have to get him to the manor." Cole said grabbing both William and Brenna and within an instant he had shimmered to the manor.
