Charmer dipped her delicate head and began to lap at the cool water. How
she loved her home in White Deer Park. She loved to hear her father's tales
of how he and so many other animals came to this protected place.
Her thoughts were interrupted but a rustling of a nearby bush. She lifted her head as a blue fox stepped from behind the bush. The delicate red vixen jumped. Her father had also told her and her siblings the warnings to stay away for the blue fox tribe. Scarface's tribe.
"Hello," the fox said. He seemed charming but Charmer was already skilled in that profession and already knew the tricks of the trade. But she had to admit he was a rather attractive fox. She turned to leave, trying to remember what her father told her.
"Don't go. I'm sorry if I startled you," the fox said, "I'm Ranger."
"I'm Charmer," Charmer replied, "I shouldn't be talking to you. Our parents will be angry."
"Why should their disagreements stop us being friends?" Ranger asked.
"I'm sorry," Charmer replied, "But while they disagree, we cannot be friends." She left. Ranger headed back to his home where his family were waiting.
"Seen any of those disgusting red foxes, Ranger?" Scarface asked.
"No father," Ranger said, "Not one."
