video game character.)

If you were ever dying inside
And you wondered what the definition of immortality was,
Then you are looking for me:

I am a video game character.
Come away with me;
I will live forever.
I will always stay the same.
I will never expire.
I will never grow old or tired .
I will forever know pain.

I'm a video game character.
Come away with me;
I will die a thousand times every day
I will forever be without happiness.
I will never have free will or joy.
I will never know fear.

I am a video game character.
Come away with me;
I will always be pretty.
I am only a face.
Behind which there is nothing.
But what you may give me
You, who will die in so many years
Your body will fall apart and your mind will fade.
Then I will no longer be looked upon.

Me the video game character,
My pretty face.
My limited voice.
My image will be lost;
I will no longer be played.
I will be replaced by myself,
another version;
never having existed.
I will be thrown away.

If you come away with me,
I will promise such a land to you
As you never could have imagined
Live in my world of surfaces and pretty colors
Touch my face and abuse me
Make me exist in your mind
As something other than pixels.
Then I will love, because you imagine that I love you.
But you can't. Not ever.

I am immortal, because I am trapped
Isolated from anything not pre-existing in my game-world
I am lonely, but I will never know it.
I am dead, but I was never alive.
I am immortal, because I never existed.
