I walked into the club. I was not a usual member at this club. They had a rep for horrible musician wanna-bes. But this night, it was different.
This night, Shuuichi was playing.
Shuuichi Shindou. A weird little kid. The kid I almost killed when he ran out in front of my car. The kid who I met in the park and read his pathetic lyrics. That same kid. He had invited me to come see him play. I told him I wouldn't, but I ended up going anyway. Hell, the only other alternative would have been to face my sister. And that girl is NOT going to force me to go to another visit with my bastard father.
So I went to the club.
When Shuuichi's eyes fell on me, he seemed to freeze up. He seemed like he did not know what to do. I smirked. "Amatuer." I muttered. If he could not handle ME being there, than what chance did he have making it big? The audience seemed on the edge of their seats. Some were snickering at the pathetic loser. Some felt horrible for him. Others were mad. They wanted to hear some music. What the hell was that kid doing? Even his guitarist friend seemed a little nervous; his eyes darting towards Shuuichi. But then Shuuichi seemed engulfed by a new sense of confidence. His eyes narrowed and he seemed sure of himself. He said that he had a little surprise for everyone. As he said that, he never once did take his eyes off of me. Then, covering the mic, he turned to his guitarist friend and said something. The guitarist seemed to debate with Shuuichi, but eventually gave in to what his friend really wanted.
And that was when it happened.
The idiot sang the song; the very song I had dissed. Throughout the song, Shuuichi's eyes again were fixated on me. A cruel smile spread across my face. I knew it. He had only invited me there to prove me wrong. But I was never wrong. The lyrics sucked. They did before, and no sorry-assed attempt like this one would improve them.
I picked up my jacket and left the club, my back to the stage and not turning back. "Pathetic." I muttered under my breath. But then, as I listened to the fading end notes to the song and to what he sung, a thought did cross my mind: when Shuuichi Shindou sang the words... they did sound a lot better.
Sorry it's so short. I had planned it to be a lot longer; until I started writing it. There is only so much you can write and improvise in that little scene in the first manga. So, that's the ficky. HOPE YOU LIKED!
