Just a bit of poetry, may have been influenced by all the stories by Finch I read lately.

The story mentioned is J.R.R.Tolkien's, of course, and the persons mentioned, too, but I think it's my right to claim the poem. :-)

So just read – and enjoy...

Earwen's song to Ulmo

White is the foam on thy green waves

All waters strong are but thy slaves

Within thy realm all freedom dwells

I feel it and collect the shells

Of those that once have passed away

And not in freedom choose to stay.

But coloured is thy sea of blue

And Mandos counts the souls anew

They called it battle, called it fight

Though noting can make this be right.

The kinfolk's blood is on their blades

While all our bliss to darkness fades.

My children gone to find new woe

Although there is not time to know

Who's for the Noldor's fall to blame

What happened to them is a shame.

All this is fault of Feanor

And of the bloody oath he swore.

But now thy sea will take my tears

And perhaps wash away my fears

I hope thy sea can comfort me

And for a moment make me free.

Thus Ulmo, Lord, I bow to thee

And go to swim thy gentle sea.
