Chapter IX: Peeling the Petals
"You've such sharp eyes, I've to say, Kakashi-san." as Kabuto said this, two of the ANBU fell lifelessly to the floor--face first. "To know that these are just manipulated corpses."
"W-what!?" The only remaining ANBU stared at his two fellow companions in shock.
"You aren't here just for talking nonsense, are you?" Kakashi narrowed his eyes at the man. Kabuto smirked and turned to Itachi. "It's my honor to finally meet you, Uchiha Itachi-san." he said mockingly but his tone was surprisingly polite. Yet that tone didn't make it for him...
Swish.
Fresh blood dripped down the small cut on Kabuto's right cheek. Behind him, a kunai was seen stick out of the cracked wall. He's pretty good. That simple attack was so fast that he didn't see it coming. No wonder why Orochimaru-sama takes interest in him...
There was a yelp and the last ANBU fell to the floor. That was when Kabuto decided it was time he acted. He jumped from where he stood up to a tree, evading the weapons thrown at him. He jumped from one tree to another, further and further away from the apartment. Kakashi and Itachi followed quickly behind.
"There's another one behind us." Kakashi warned the Uchiha.
"I know." Itachi replied as they rushed among the leafless branches, further and further into the sleeping forest, where the ground was covered with white snow.
That was when Kabuto decided to halt. The white haired-man jumped down, landing on the soft snow soundlessly. His eyes now fixed on two figures approaching him. One with silver-grey hair that reflected their surrounding of frozen ice and snow and mis-matching eyes. The other with long dark hair that was as black as night and eyes of unflickering fire. Both landing smoothly to the ground with a cat like grace.
The freezing winter wind whistled, delivering the coldness to their skins at the same times as another presence made itself known. Sakon appeared behind Kakashi and Itachi with an arrogant smirk on his lips. "Our little game ends here." he said.
"Over-estimating yourself, huh?" said Kakashi.
"Who knows. Why don't you try first?" said Sakon, raising his chin challengingly.

Sakura smiled to herself as she carefully unwrapped her homemade cookies. "Wow! These smell great!" Naruto's mouth watered at the mere smell of the cookies. He quickly took one and plopped it in his mouth. "Mmm..." he looked thoughtful as he plopped in another one...and another one...and another one and...
Sakura's vein popped and she slapped his hand away before he could take another one. "Are you going to have all for yourself? Sasuke-kun hasn't had one yet! I didn't spend 3 hours making-"
"It's alright, Sakura-san. If Naruto-san likes it..." Naruto and Sakura turned to look at the raven haired-boy. "Don't worry about me." Sasuke added. On hearing this, Naruto's eyes widened. He clutched at the other boy's shoulders and shook his head slowly. "Sasuke..." he said, his voice shaking. "I've never thought I would hear that from such a tight-ass like you...Ack!" He turned to Sakura, who had just whacked him on the head.
"Don't insult him!" chided Sakura. How can you know that it's tight? Well, that was Inner Sakura. Don't mind her.
Sasuke blinked and took one cookie from the box.

Blood splashed.
Thud.
More blood dripped down to the white ground, painting it with crimson red. On the tainted snow, Itachi stood over Kabuto with a katana resting against his throat. Behind him was a knocked out Sakon. Kakashi stood just a few feet behind. The white haired-man wiped the blood off of the corner of his lips, looking up at the Uchiha prodigy, whose glowing red eyes spoke of death. This is over faster than I thought. But...
"You're really good, Itachi-san. No wonder why Orochimaru-sama wants you." he said, trying to delay the time of the arrival of his bane. If he wanted to live, he had to be careful. "But you are too strong..." He secretly sent his chakra to where the wounds were, healing them by speeding up the cells' metabolism.
"So he has his eyes set on Sasuke instead, right?" said Kakashi.
"...Yes..." said Kabuto slowly. "...And..."
"And?" Itachi's katana bit into his neck threateningly. Red blood dripped down on the cold silver metal.
"And he's going to get what he wants." smirking victoriously, Kabuto snapped his fingers.
CRASH!
A loud crash was heard from the direction Sasuke's apartment was in. "That couldn't be...!" As soon as the two shinobi turned at the sound, Kabuto quickly rolled out of the katana's range and getting to Sakon, "My job is just luring you two away from them. And now that it's done..." He tilted his head mockingly to the direction as if telling his enemies to go check their precious raven haired-boy before disappearing in a puff of smoke, leaving nothing but footprints and blood on the snow behind.
"Damnit!"

"S-Sakura-chan, what're you doing!?" Naruto stared at the pink haired-girl in horror. The shattered shards of window glass were scattered all over the floor. In the middle of the room stood Sakura with her kunai raised, pointing directly at Naruto while her other arm had Sasuke locked in an unnaturally strong grip. Her emerald eyes were blank and she had no expression on her face as if she was a manipulated doll. "Kukuku..."
"Sakura-chan?" Naruto voiced hesitantly while backing slowly, studying his teammate's gesture.
"Kukukuku...hahahaha..." Naruto frozed at the voice coming from the girl standing before him, for the voice wasn't Sakura's. No. It wasn't even female. He knew that voice. That evil laughter...no one would forget it after hearing it just only once. It made his blood freeze. Chills ran down every inch of his spine. "You...Orochimaru." He addressed the man possessing Sakura in dry voice. His sweaty hand reach for his weapon in the holster. "What did you do to Sakura-chan!?"
The possessed girl laughed maniacally, tightening her grip around Sasuke's neck--almost suffocating him. "Me? No, I didn't do anything. Don't you believe me?"
"No way in hell I will believe you!" Naruto snarled, pointing his kunai back at Sakura-no-at Orochimaru.
Orochimaru laughed again, this time even louder as he lowered his kunai, walking closer so that Naruto's kunai was merely less than an inch apart from him. "Stab me, Naruto-kun. I won't dodge nor will I fight back. Isn't it good? If you can kill the one who murdered the third Hokage, doesn't that mean you're stronger than Hokage?" He said all that in Sakura's voice and took a step closer.
"N-Naruto-san, don't!" Sasuke managed to choke out.
Naruto held the kunai so tightly that his knuckle went white, he glared disdainfully at the man using his teammate's body, he didn't move, though. Orochimaru smiled triumphantly and punched Naruto in the stomach, sending him to roll in agony on the floor. Naruto coughed out blood and slammed his fist on the floor in anger as he saw the possessed girl jumped out of the window, along with Sasuke.
Footsteps were heard running toward his direction. Naruto struggled to stand up and spun around as soon as the door swung open...
"We're too late..." said the silver-grey haired jounin as he noticed the mess in the room and Sasuke was missing...so was Sakura. Itachi looked at the broken window and frowned.
".................................."
Clothes rustled
"Itachi!"
The Uchiha prodigy jumped out of the window before Kakashi and Naruto could even start talking. The silver-grey haired jounin gave his student a look as if to tell him to stay there. He soon followed Itachi. Naruto's scowled deeply as he watched the two men rush through the glittering forest, farther and farther. I have to go. I won't let him turn me down this time! And making the decision, the kitsune boy went after them--deeper and deeper into the shadow with his mind firmly made up. Yet he was unawared of a cloaked figure watching him from behind the leafless pine tree as he ran.

The pink haired-girl stopped as they reached her destination. As soon as she let go of her captive, there was a blinding flash of chakra. So bright that Sasuke had to shield his eyes. The girl then blinked confusedly and looked around her. "Where am I?"
"Sakura-san, you're alright?"
Sakura turned at the familiar voice. "Sasuke-kun?" she asked. "Where are we?"
Sasuke scanned their surrounding. He didn't remember visiting this place before. Why did it look so familiar? As if...he had been here...no...he had lived here for years. He looked up at the tall Sakura trees shedding their wonderous petals to the ground, on which lush green grass welcomed them warmly. Wait! Sakura trees!? The Uchiha boy's obsidian eyes widened for all of a sudden. "What's wrong, Sasuke-kun?" Sakura asked, noticing the change in the boy's expression.
"The trees..." Sasuke said softly, still couldn't believe his eyes.
"The trees?" Sakura repeated his answer, looking up at the tall cherry blossom trees--the origin of her name. And it hit her suddenly. "H-h-h-how!?" She stammered. This was winter. How could these trees still blossom? She looked around nervously. "There isn't any snow!" She walked to one of the surrounding trees and put her hand on the trunk to make sure that it was genjutsu or not since she couldn't ask Sasuke to use the Sharingan. "This isn't a genjutsu." She said grimly, turning to Sasuke but he wasn't looking at her. "Sasuke-kun?"
The raven haired-boy was looking at the mansion before him as if in trance.
I'm waiting for you Sasuke-kun...
The same voice he had heard before echoed in his mind and Sasuke felt like there was a snake crawling under his skin. Suddenly...!
"Ahh!"
The Uchiha boy snapped out of his trance, spinning around to look at his pink haired-companion and found that she was now unconscious.
Come... Come... Come...
The vile voice became louder and louder.
The young Uchiha narrowed his eyes at the closed door before looking back at Sakura. "I'll be back soon, Sakura-san." he said, taking the weapon from Sakura, he pushed the front door open.
Flash.
Blood spilled all over the place. The smelly scent filled his nostrils.
Flash.
Their helpless screams rang through the eerie night. The sky was dark.
Flash.
Lifeless corpses. The cold light from the dreadful moon illuminated the whole scence.
Flash.
A woman with long dark hair. A man with a katana.
Flash.
"Do you like our meeting place, Sasuke-kun?" came a freakily sweet voice. Shaking those horrible images out of his head, Sasuke looked at its owner, who was sitting with his back on him. The man was looking out of the wooden window, appreciating the scenery. The spring wind chimed the small bell hanging there, carrying the sweet scent of the flowers and the fresh dews on the tall grass. Pink petals swiveled when touched by the breeze, looking as if they were waltzing for their blossoming time. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
The boy continued to gaze at the man. He knew it was this man's voice he had heard haunting him in his thought, his sleep and his mind. Yet he didn't recall that voice to be this young. The voice he heard before was much more older than this man's. "Who are you?"
The man chuckled softly, his golden snake-like eyes gleaming as he turned. "My name...is Orochimaru."
Sasuke's legs went rigid at the name. He didn't know why but what his body acted like it feared this young man. A lot. The cursed seal on his neck began to throb badly and he sunk to his knees, clutching the seal in tight grip.
Orochimaru smiled mischievously. "Welcome, Sasuke-kun, back to the Uchiha household. Your birthplace." He paused a little, studying the boy's reaction before adding: "And Itachi's."
"What do you know?" The boy asked.
Orochimaru licked his lips and moved to kneel down in front of the boy. His long tongue traced the boy's earlobe lazily. "Many, many things." he whispered, smiling slightly as he felt the boy shiver. "Where should I start?"
Sasuke inched away from the man and his disgusting tongue. Orochimaru raised his eyebrows, looking absolutely amused. He grabbed the boy's chin and savagely plundered the boy's lips, kissing and biting him at the same time. No! The Uchiha boy's mind screamed in protest and he tried to push the man away. But it was no use doing so. As he went through these minutes of pure torture that seemed like hours, his thought went back to his lover...
Itachi...
Hot, salty essence of blood filled his mouth. Orochimaru's body shook and he quickly withdrew his lips, spitting the blood. Fire blazed in those golden eyes of his. "You two brothers seem to love each other so much." He sneered evilly. "So I think I should begin with..."
Sasuke felt another throb in neck, where the cursed seal was. This time was much worse than before. He hissed in agony at the sharp pain. Yet nothing could be as blood freezing as what left Orochimaru's lips the next second.
"The massacre legend of Uchiha clan."

This story is getting longer than I thought. Maybe I was wrong about two more chapters to end. Maybe it'll take three. (Including this one) Oh well...
