Summary: Very short look into Buffy's lovelife, through the eyes of Xander.
Disclaimer: I own...a pile of junk currently on my desk, the season 4 dvd and a computer with a lot of pictures of Riley on it. Does that mean I own Riley?
As I see Buffy breaking down in front of me I once again wonder about her motives for love. She is the slayer. That's why she could never have a normal boyfriend.
Riley was that normal boyfriend. He loved her, it was obvious in everything he did, every time he looked at her. He loved her so much that she took him for granted.
With Angel she had to fight. She had to struggle to hold on to this love, and maybe that is why she never feels like it's really worth anything if she hasn't fought for it. She is the Slayer after all. She's used to fighting for things she believes in. Maybe that's why it didn't work out...maybe because she didn't have to fight for Riley's love she just stopped believing in him.
For the girl who always said she wanted a nice normal relationship, nice and normal didn't turn out to be enough.
