"Haikus for Gríma and Éowyn – the Couple that Never Was"

Work: The Lord of the Rings
Character(s): Gríma/Éowyn
Category: Poetry
Rating: PG-13

I love this pairing so much. This bit of work here is roughly based on a chapter-fic I'm writing now... hopefully I'll figure out where I want it to go soon... enjoy this for now!

------------------------------------------------

Cunning words whispered
To overthrow a kingdom.
What now can be done?

A broken king wastes.
A broken princess sorrows.
A broken man pines.

He touches her face.
She does not know what to do.
His words are poison.

His hand lingers as
he waits for her reaction.
He is scorned once more.

She recoils from him.
There can be naught between them.
Black and white negate.

All is lost to her.
What help can be found in such
a twisted creature?

She despises him
and hates herself for her fin-
al desperation

His dreams coming true
Not in the way expected
Nervous and joyful

She dreads the nightfall
Regrets what she has said, but
it is for the best

White flesh melds and they
become as one. She has for-
saken everything.

Embrace the darkness.
Embrace the shadow ever
growing. Embrace me.

Hope you found this likeable! I'm not exactly sure if you can split words in a haiku... but oh well! Review, please? Tell me which parts you like most/least?
