Summary: Sora's thoughts as he sacrifices himself at Hallow Bastion for Kairi. Sora's POV.

When I Fade Away…….

"What can we do?", I ask. "Maybe, we gotta go wake Kairi up.", Goofy says. "I think your right……if we can free her heart….", my voice trails off, unsure of how I would free her. "But….but how?"

My eyes fall to Riku's keyblade…….the keyblade Riku had used to unlock the 6 princess's hearts……the keyblade Riku had used to attack me in order to…….in order to unlock my own heart, Kairi's heart.

"A keyblade that unlocks people's hearts….I wonder ……." "Sora", Goofy questions what I will do next.

I walk over and pick it up slowly. Realizing what I was going to do, Goofy yells, "Sora! Hold on!" "No! Wait!", Donald shouts.

I ignore their pleas and continue looking at the evil keyblade. Once I was sure of what I was going to do, I turned to face them. I smiled.

They told me at the beginning of the journey that they don't want to see any sad faces. So I gave them one final smile.

I then took the dark keyblade and held it over my heart. I then stabbed it into my heart. I felt it unlock my heart. I breathed in, ready for what might happen next. The keyblade floated into the air and glowed a purple light. It turned into the 6 princess's crystal hearts. The glowing crystal hearts floated down into the lower part of the room and returned to their owners. I feel my heart, Kairi's heart leave me. Her heart is returned to her and the Ultimate Keyhole is complete. Right as her heart is returned to her body, a golden light surrounds me. I can't exist without a heart, so I begin to fade away. I take a final glance over at her and smile. I close my eyes, my mind begins to go blank, and I begin to fall backward.

Somewhere in the background, I hear Donald yell, "Sora!" Kairi opens her eyes and begins to get up. She looks over at me and yells, "Sora!" She runs over in an effort to save me, but she is too late. She can't save me. No one can. As she tries to catch me, I disappear in golden light. All that is left are little balls of glowing golden light floating toward the ceiling.

I feel myself being pulled into the darkness. I begin forgetting who I am, my friends, my home……..Then all goes black.

I open my eyes to find I am in a strange looking room. I see 3 people run past me. One of them is a girl. I feel that I know this girl. I decide to follow them. I run after them until they reach the entrance hall. When I approach them, the odd looking duck wearing a strange looking hat tells me to go away. The girl, however, seems to recognize me. "Sora?", she says. For some reason, the name sounds familiar.

All of a sudden, we are surrounded. Surrounded by creatures that look exactly like me. Heartless. The girl gets in front of me. She says, "This time I will protect you."

The Heartless close in on us. There is no way she can protect me from the rest of the Heartless, for she has no weapon. Then it happened.

The Heartless come closer, closing in for the final move. They jump for us and this girl seems to have one thing on her mind- protecting me. She turns around and shields me, putting her arms around me. We are covered in Heartless. Then something happens.

I felt a warmth inside of me that I hadn't felt in a long time. Memories flooded back to me. A golden glow surrounds me and Kairi. I find that I have become myself again. Kairi was the one who had reminded me of who I was when I was lost in the darkness. She brought me back. She is the one who saved me in the end. She is the one that I care about most in the world. My love. My Kairi.
