The sun was setting, and the sea was glimmering with dancing droplets. However, the beautiful scenery was lost on the few who the privileged few who were chosen to witness the sunset at its best.
Where are they? It's not like them to be late for something like this! The tall, broad-shouldered man known as the newly crowned King Elessar of Gondor wondered aloud. His loving wife, Queen Arwen, murmured soothingly. It's best not to worry, they'll come soon enough."
But will it be soon enough? Aragorn cried? " The boat is about to leave soon, and I fear that with their haste, the elves will not stop to wait for them!"
The words were truly spoken. The elves, eager to leave Middle Earth after performing their duty, were impatiently waiting for the one they called Legolas Greenleaf, Prince of Mirkwood, and Gimli, son of Gloin.
One elf separated from the group. My Lord, I'm afraid that my group of elves can wait no longer. They are impatient to depart. We would wait for them, but…"he trailed off helplessly.
"Tis understandable. You have no other choice. Aragorn replied tiredly. "You may depart. I know of your haste. Rest assured, the Prince of Mirkwood will join you soon, even if I have to build a boat for him myself!"
The elf bowed and shouted at the others to pack, as they were leaving. All the elves tossed the many bundles lumped on the floor into the hold. " CRASH!"
" Oh no! That was my present to mother! Can't you see the 'fragile' sign at the bottom? Do be careful you dolts!" Arwen lost her temper. Aragorn and Arwen waved to the rapidly departing boat, though Arwen's wave looked more like she was trying to get them to come back so she could strangle the clumsy elf who dropped her present.
Then suddenly, Aragorn heard the unmistakable sound of the dwarf's clomping footsteps. The Elf and Dwarf suddenly emerged from behind a great pillar.
"TURN BACK NOW, ELVES!!" Aragorn used the powerful voice that commanded armies.
As in one accord, all the elves on the boat immediately grabbed oars and rowed feverishly back to the jetty. However, they stopped about 10 meters from the shore, not wanting to be at the receiving end of the wrath of Arwen, who was currently looking for stones to throw.
"Don't leave without us! We're coming! Both elf and dwarf skidded to a stop at the bank, perplexed. Legolas tried to beckon the boat closer, but looked surprised at the elves' reluctance. "Don't worry Gimli. The distance isn't far-we can jump across!"
The dwarf snorted. "Maybe you can, master elf, but we dwarfs were not made for jumping, no we weren't. Stout fellows we were made. That's the way we stay firmly on the ground. The dwarf paused. " What do you suggest we do laddie? The boat is leaving, and you bother me with your useless ideas! He snorted.
The elf stood there in silence-or deep thought When he got a mad glint in his eye. "Uh-oh elf-boy. I don't like that look in your eyes!" The dwarf emphasized, while backing away. "The last time you had that was when you put me on that maniac horse of a A-aaaaargh!"
The dwarf went sailing through the air? and into the arms of an elf. Shortly after, Legolas went sailing into the air, onto the boat as well.
"Well I never!" Sputtered the dwarf. "It's been two times because of this dratted quest that I've been tossed!"
A/N: I'm really, really sorry about this. I typed it on my dad's laptop and somehow all the punctuation got mixed up with Chinese words. I'm trying to fix it all now, and I promise it will all be sorted out as soon as I figure out what is wrong. Oh, and please review. J
