The Cheat Goes Goth

The Cheat tapped his bic pen against his gold tooth, searching the depths of his soul for the next line. His eyes retraced the poem so far.

Servant of night Sleeping upon a grill
Of doom. Sealed from light Alone, alone, In cocoon of BLACK DEATH!

I am alone, The Cheat thought; Nobody understands me. He puffed out a little sigh of self-pity, reaching for his Trogdor lighter. He lit a black candle and placed it on top of his monitor. All alone.
"'Ey, The Cheat!" called Strong Bad, striding into the room. "Man, what's that stink?"
The Cheat chattered an angry reply.
"Incense? Did you steal that off of Marzipan?"
The Cheat shrugged.
"Not that I have a problem with that, but dude, it smells like..." he took a deep whiff. "Like if the Poopsmith rolled in a bunch of, like, sweaty hey, and someone set him on fire."
"Meh!" said The Cheat, hopping down from his chair. He wiggled into his new, black faux-leather trenchcoat. The mall girl said it made him look nonconformist and sexy, but at the same time, sweet and sensitive. It dragged on the ground, but she said it was supposed to be that way because life was such a drag. He liked it; it had a lot of straps and chains. Plus it came with a free black candle.
"The Cheat, where are you going?"
The Cheat mumbled his reply, starting for the door.
"The mall? No, The Cheat! Don't go!"
The Cheat froze, his back to Strong Bad.
"I see what's going on. You're getting all goth, is that right? The Cheat, you have to stop now before it goes too far. I've seen it happen before. Strong Sad went through a goth phase. Sure, it started out okay, listening to death metal, writing a lot of bad poetry, watching The Crow. But then there was the lipstick. He starting wearing black lipstick and nail polish," Strong Bad's voice faded, and his eyes became distant. "Dude, you're not a guy if you start wearing make-up, that's all I'm say'n." A single tear rolled down his red facemask. "That's all I'm say'n," he whispered.
The Cheat turned around. He was right. He had to stop before it went too far. Shrugging off his heavy coat, The Cheat ran to Strong Bad as fast as his stubby legs could take him. Maybe he wasn't alone after all, he thought, leaping into Strong Bad's open arms.
