Summary: Two outcast are looking for a little friendship
A/N: I hope this makes sense. I wrote this when I was feeling sorry for Neville and Luna.
The unlucky ones in life; the ones who everyone secretly whispered about, not where they could be heard of course. No sense in being rude. No, all the whispers where done privately. As if they couldn't guess what was being said behind those closed doors by looks of pity they were shot every day, in every class.
One was too flighty for their tastes. It was one thing to talk about thinking outside the box; another thing to actually live that way. So the girl was thrown looks of pity and unashamed curiosity. "Who was this girl" was the question most asked. It would be the equivalent of "what is she on" in the Muggle world. She didn't look normal or act like society; therefore in teenage society that meant banishment.
The other one wasn't good enough for them. He had great lineage but couldn't perform the most basic spells without royally screwing up. That alone put him another category all together. Then there was the fact he was good at Herbology and not Potions, Transfiguration or any class that was deemed "cool." So he was left out, always hanging on the fringes; always left feeling he about to be cut off without a second thought.
At some point, in some hallway, they met when they collided, literally; each running from someone's cruel taunts. That day started to form a friendship where the outcasts weren't quite all alone anymore. A shoulder was there to lean on; a hand to remind each other that people they loved weren't lost but instead just a little misplaced for now. Being an outcast wasn't so depressing anymore. After all, who can be an outcast within a friendship?
