short poem of the Valar, about the end of the world. Possibly violates all the rule of poetry, but it's been running amok in my brain all day.

When All Has Gone to Darkness

Poem of the Valar

When all has gone to darkness,

We will still be here.

As the earth shakes,

As the sun grows dim,

We will watch over you.

We have shared in your triumph,

So shall we lament your passing.

When all creatures have turned to dust,

When all has gone to darkness,

We will welcome you Home.

We are the Valar.

As we were the First,

So shall we be the Last.

And when all the world has gone to darkness,

You shall sing in our halls.

As the final darkness comes,

We will welcome you Home.
