to a person
they might be only two numbers
they could symbolize a beginning
or a productive end
they could be two people stuck together
in the middle of an
eternity
they could be
to another
endless possibilities
to problems
and an even more complex
array of answers
but to the humans
who live in jerusalem
it is the name
of the place
that they would fear
an impenetrable fortress
harboring the greatest of evils
and to those
who were forced to carve out
their own promised land
to those with the flesh of cold steel
that burns with a thousand years of suffering
to them it is a sanctuary
the only place to call home
a secure and safe hollow
amid this world of hate
but to me
to me the words zero one
are just the words zero one
whispers of a legend
echoes from the future
snippets from a fireside story
and yet zero one brings back memories
memories that are not mine
should not belong
and i weep for confusion
of the sacrifice that was made at
zero one
