A/N: No, it's not an update, I just realized how stupid the original was, so I'm making modifications. Oh, and I don't own anything, ok? So don't sue. All you'd get is my cold…
Anyway, I hope you like the new and improved version, so God Bless!
Capricorn was dying. There was no avoiding it now. Just the waiting. He couldn't bring himself to hate Silver tongue, or any of his family for that matter, though he knew he really should. They did kill him after all. He simply didn't have the energy, here at the end.
He discovered, to his mild surprise that it was true, your life did flash before your eyes when you died.
Sir was drunk again. Capricorn could smell it on his breath, as the man pummeled the child's small body.
"I'll teach you to cry, you stupid wretch!" Sir had screamed at the frightened three-year-old.
"Stop it! Please stop it!" The child cried, shielding his face with his hands.
The teenager stood mutely, stoically enduring his father's abuse without flinching. Time had taught him that much at least. The man finished his mistreatment of his already icy son and went to the pub to drink himself into oblivion.
Capricorn opened the door at around three in the morning, prepared to accept his passed out father from whoever brought him.
When the door revealed members of the watch Capricorn was instantly on his guard, what had his father done this time? And how much of the family's finances was Capricorn going to waste bailing the bastard out of jail?
"Are you the boy?" The right watchman asked gruffly
"Yes."
"We regret to inform you that your father passed away." The second watchman said tiredly.
"Alright," the teenager murmured, "What do I have to do?"
'Sir, you are aware that your father died?" The second watchman asked, surprised.
"Yes?"
"He was murdered in a bar brawl." The right watchman grunted.
"If that is all?" Capricorn inquired, again.
"Com to the guardhouse in the morning." Said the first guard.
"I'm sorry son. If you need anything, just ask." The second guard murmured, clearly under the impression that Capricorn was in shock.
"Good night." Capricorn said, with an air of finality, closing the door firmly.
Capricorn left his home shortly thereafter, seeking work in the city. Ah, the city. A fascinating place to a young man and, as Capricorn soon learned, dangerous.
"Rent's due." The grunt said to Capricorn's face, through a crack in the door.
"I already paid you this month." Capricorn replied.
"If the boss said you didn't then you didn't did ya kid?" The man laughed.
Capricorn grudgingly handed over the money, working as an errand boy by day and a pickpocket by night did not pay well, but he was too small to challenge yet.
Capricorn was dimly aware of the people around him. The large bookworm woman was there, along with Silvertongue, his daughter, and Resa. There were others…Capricorn welcomed the returning darkness, death made sense right now…
