By some miracle she'd found her way there, Angel hadn't even told her. She was so lost, heartbroken and lost and there was nothing anyone could do to ease the pain. When she saw him lying there, double crossed by the supposed good guys, she was enraged. She walked over to him and pulled his head into her lap as she wept, this did not have to happen.
Hold on to me love
You know I can't stay long
All I wanted to say was I love you and I'm not afraid
Can you hear me?
Can you feel me in your arms?
Holding my last breath
Safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you Sweet rapture and life, it ends here tonight.
She was alone now, all alone in the world but she had to cling to him, couldn't lose him. She hadn't been mortal very long, and she hated it so far. The grief and terror she was feeling was like nothing she had ever felt before, every bone in her body quivered in anger. There was nothing that could have been done for him, even if she'd gotten there earlier, but this was not necessary, Angel screwed him over, and it was awful. And now she was left alone with just her memories left.
I'll miss the winters
A world of fragile things
Look for me in the white forest hiding in a hollow tree.
I know you hear me I can taste it in your tears
Holding my last breath
Safe inside myself, are all my thoughts of you
Sweet rapture and life, it ends here tonight.
She must have held on to him for hours, and it seemed like he was still there almost, like he was still with her. She could feel him, all around her...his warmth that was like no other, like a blanket of love wrapped around her, and it was the only time that she had ever felt this way in her entire existence, she thought she'd feel cold...worse, but she didn't, it was like she could still feel him there with her or something...and she didn't know if that was a blessing or a greater tragedy. He was going to change...he was going to attone, and Angel never had any intention in letting him...
Closing your eyes to disappear
You pray your dreams will leave you here
But still you wake and know the truth
No one's there
Say goodnight
Don't be afraid
Calling me, calling me as you fade to black
Eve wiped the tears from her eyes, and got up, giving him one final glance, he was gone and there was nothing she could do, but still she felt him...it was the strangest thing, she'd never believed in love or that it transcended everything, even death. That her love for him, their love would keep him alive forever. "Goodbye Lindsey...you showed me how to love, how to be real...to feel things...and I'm not sure whether to be thankful or enraged at that, because now I have to be alone to feel all this...anyway I'll see you again someday..." she let her voice trail off as she left the building, the sounds of her heels clicking as she went.
One lone figure, shrouded in darkness watched her go. He longed to take her into his arms and tell her that everything would be okay, but he couldn't. He understood now, why life was so precious and he prayed that she didn't waste hers, avenging him. He didn't want to see her turn into a killer, a monster...that would be worse than him dying.
