Title: Doesn't Care Author: Lala Pairing: Ellie/Sean Rating: PG Spoilers: Take on Me and Don't Dream it's Over, but only for the fact that Sean and Ellie are a couple. Summary: "That makes sense." "You're the first person to ever say that." Ellie PoV. Sean/Ellie. Author's Notes: And the lame titles continue! Sigh. Another short, weird standalone. Sorry for out of characterness.

Also, thanks for the wonderful feedback for She doesn't know, and I would love some for this!

"Hey, El?" Her breath catches and her fingers go slack. The raiser falls to the floor with a clatter and she can feel herself starting to tremble.

She wishes he didn't know. Wishes he was walking in on his girlfriend mutilating herself and knew nothing about it.

But he does.

And that makes it all the worse.

It's not that she's scared of what he'll say; he gets her. He gets it. He knows why she does it and doesn't care.

Or does he? What if seeing it, actually seeing the person you care for - if he can still care for her - standing over a sink, blood gushing from a jagged cut on her arm is revolting enough to make him stop? To make him hate her? To make him...

The door's opening. Closing behind him. The room's so small they're practically touching.

His hand, callused and rough touches her shoulder. And in that moment it's softer than silk.

Slowly, gently he turns her around. Sees the tears glistening in her eyes. Feels the tremor of her body beneath his touch.

Gentle fingers wrap around hers. With his free hand he lifts hers up towards his face. Looks. Stares. Nods.

Then he's letting it go. He's trying so hard to be gentle; to not hurt her. That only makes the tears come faster.

Tentative arms slip around her. Hesitant fingers stroke through her hair. Wordlessly, he pulls her close.

Hesitantly, she returns the embrace. His arms tighten ever so slightly and in that action she knows.

Tears soak his chest as blood splatters his back.

But he doesn't care.

He doesn't care.
