Chapter 1 Prologue
The sounds of the battle grew fainter as Sirius fell behind the veil. He found himself suspended in the blackness for a moment before a screen surrounded him where he hung. Suddenly, an old film began to play, the images surrounding Sirius. The sound of the voices in the film seemed to be coming from inside his own head rather than an outside source.
"James, what is it? Where are you going?"
A man with untidy black hair was grabbing a coat as he headed towards the door.
"Don't worry about it, Sirius is worried about something, you know how he is. Just stay here and I'll be back as soon as I can." He planted a kiss on his wife and disapparated out of the house.
"So what is this that you are so worried about Padfoot?"
"Peter"
"What about him?"
"He's the spy, I'm sure of it,"
"But we…"
"I know, we got to go find him or we're all in serious shit."
The two men apparated into a small house that was rather untidy.
"He's not here"
"No shit, we need to find him before"
"Don't say it Padfoot, I don't want to think about it."
"Listen, why don't you go home, I'll look for Peter."
"You sure"
"Yeah, go on, maybe I'll come by in a bit."
James apparated back to Godric's Hollow to find the house in ruins. He went in to see his wife lying on the floor in the nursery, dead. She was still holding Harry, who was not dead, but crying, with blood dripping down his face from a cut on his forehead. James picked Harry up and mopped off the blood.
"Shhhhhhh it's okay Harry, you're safe." his voice was cracking and a few tears trickled down his face. "Goodbye Lily, I will always love you." James said quietly, kissing her gently on the forehead before leaving the ruined house. Just as he got out of the house there was a loud crack as Sirius apparated next to him.
"What the hell happened?" He said, taking in the ruins in front of him. "Where's Lily?"
"She's gone, just Harry, Peter." James babbled, seemingly too shocked to speak.
"James, you're not making any sense."
"Voldemort, Peter will pay, she's gone, just Harry alive…"
"Come on Prongs, we'll go back to my place. Peter will pay for what he has done, mark my words, he will pay."
The screen dissolved and Sirius found himself sitting on some stairs. There was a woman sitting next to him, she was vaguely familiar…
